To My Secretive Gift-Giver:
I knew it had to be you who sent the muffin; no one else would have. The gift would have been flowers or perfumed soaps or something along that line. Feminine neccesities, I suppose you could call them.
The muffin was indeed very delicious. I enjoyed it the next morning with a cup of warm milk (I can never manage to drink milk when it is cold; it gives me a brain freeze). I was lucky, I got two large pieces of candied orange peel, and I saved one of them to chew on later. Even then, it was still delicious. I made a trek to the bakery and bought several more pastries. Their croissants are great as well; extremely light and flaky.
I thought I missed you that day. However, I was able to see you again later on. A black coat, I believe? Or perhaps it was the shadows. It looked nice on you.
It seems that there are people working outside to fix something or the other. Indeed, it is already very late, but I am finding it hard to sleep with all the ruckus on the other side of the wall. I am just about to throw open the window and yell at them to stop. Nobody I have talked to seems to know what needs to be fixed, although some said something about various pipes that needed to be checked. There was an audit a few months ago, I recall.
Well, I shall try to squeeze out any last bit of sleep I possibly can. Good night!

You told me both characters sounded a lot like me. Of course they do, silly, I'm writing to myself. If they didn't, it would be a sure sign that I was insane, because I would then be talking to my conscience.
