To: The Lady with Red Hair
I know that it must be surprising to see this letter drift from a bridge above into your lap as you float past. However, feeling that calling to you as you no doubt return home from a long day is not only disrespectful but rude, I have taken the opportunity to write instead, and to let this drift into your hands.
I hope that I am not too forward in saying that you hold a certain intrigue for me. After that moment that we first met (or so it felt), I have since had a constant urging thought to talk to you.
If you do agree to my request, you have my utmost gratitude. If you find it offending, you have my understanding. However, I shall hope for the former, and wait eagerly for a reply.

To my Strange Silhouette:
I cannot help but reassure you that I was indeed startled at seeing this letter fall from the sky. Indeed, I thought that you had dropped it in passing, perhaps in a hurry to the post office. Seeing that it was addressed to "The Lady with Red Hair" did assure me that I was the intended recipeint, though.
It would be my pleasure to accept this conversation of pen and paper. In fact, I think that it will give me great joy to be able to talk to someone before I get ready for sleep to overcome me. It can become rather lonely in the night, don't you think? Silence wakes my imagination better than anything else.
Well, except for, perhaps, you. It is strange to write to you, only knowing your shadow. I try my best to come up with a picture, but I can never quite put it all together.
Is it proper to end this with a good night? I realize that there's a chance that you do not read this at night time, but saying the two words reassures me in an unspeakable way.
As you did before me, I impatiently await your reply. I shall look forward for night to fall, when I can talk to you again.

I've decided to write this in letter format, the easy way out. I won't always put the reply in the same entry as the letter, but I felt that just seeing the first one would give this story a bad impression.
Seeing as I'm a girl, I was at a loss on how to write the letter from the boy's point of view. I know that I can judge whether or not I would accept such a thing, but it was still difficult. Bear with me.
Also, I realized that if she was sailing off into the sunset, he wouldn't be the silhouette. Just...ignore that little fact. ^^
