I swear, Stillwater has more damned police than anywhere on the planet.
Campus police from the uni, state police, city police, the mall police which seem to think they rule the world, and the county police.
That's five different kinds.
Not only that, if you get a parking ticket from one, the others can still give you one.
Alan ended up with not one, not two, but three parking tickets yesterday.
His offence: the meter was up by about two minutes.
That's another thing, in most places, you can get away with parking in a spot with a meter and not paying for a few hours. Here, some kind of police check the meters religiously.
Every fifteen minutes or something crazy like that.
So now, Alan's got three tickets from the same thing each costing anywhere from $75 to $180 each.
He was pissed.
Beyond pissed.
He wanted to find "Officer Tankett" from the Mall police [[he wasn't at the mall; not even close]] and beat his or her skull in with a meter.

Alan went down to the sheriff's office today and got the two that cost the most dropped.
The first two were within three minutes of each other and the mall police one was like 4 minutes after the second one.
So now we've just got one parking ticket for $75 instead of upwards of $350.
He never did find "Officer Tankett"....
I'm glad.

that is the most, disgusting, oppressive, undemocratic idea i've ever heard of! i bet they're just there to beat the crap out of any uni students who express an opinion...
did you know that in many european countries it is written in their country's constitution that no police may set foot on university property? it's so that in the event of democracy being threatened the students (always the most morally conscious people) will be able to resist the government if it ever turns into a fascist dictatorship.
and mall police?!?! do they carry a whistle? rofl
