Shut up and read...
Ok, so everyones freaking out about the unfortunate event of cinemas being closed; This is what I have to say...
Some you all are in denial about it being shut down for good. Making special requests for it to be revamped and whatnot and what you think should be done to improve it. For starters, if the mods were "revamping" it or plotting ways to invent something BETTER for us, they have not made that clear. They have bought it to our attention that the place was shut down for good because of "lack of interest". If they we're planning on revamping it, they would've said "closed for maintence" or "be back soon, we're making this place better for you guys!" etc, but none of that was stated.
When I 1st joined Gaia, there was no cinemas. It was just me and my friends hanging out in forums. I didn't even know about guilds *shrugs* but we were still close and spoke to each other everyday. I left for a couple of years and when I came back, that's when I found out about cinemas. Yeah, I thought that it was great, I met some of the most amazing people ever (including my hubby) and it was all fun...but things slowly started to get worse. Cinemas originally had 40 lobbies, and everyone who had their own little group hung out in different lobbies. My fav was lobby 14 for some reason. Then that's when the issues with the clones formed and was never fixed. Then they finally got rid of the 40 lobbies and made it like 23 or something? And eventually it only became just 10 lobbies. It started to feel like we were being forced to hang together...it was weird and kind of awkward if you weren't friends with everyone. Then the mods slowly started taking away the somewhat decent selection of movies that was there (i.e: Matrix, Men in Black, Night of the Living Dead) and the people who actually came to watch the movies ended up leaving because it wasn't fair to them.
In between all of that, drama started to form. People wanted to experience dating, a lot of lying and backstabbing was going on which lead to tons of fighting. The fighting and drama caused a lot of Gaia's cinema veterans to leave because they didn't want to be a part of that...its only just a game to those who don't throw their phone number out to everyone they've been talking to for a week or so. Also, a lot of people left because the place just got boring. No one was talking, just about everyone was AFK or on another tab.
I believe that my newest friends (those that joined a little after Jan 2010) caught the ending of a great thing, you guys didn't know what you were getting yourselves into and you still had a good time meeting the somewhat normal people that still hung out in cinemas. (The people who were just as new as you...not the drama setters) You had no idea about the past and you had no idea how broken and abused the place was becoming. It was no longer a happy home...the older members know exactly what I'm talking about.
I think that you guys can fight until the end of time for what you believe in, but like I said before, don't get your hopes up. It's only a few of you who actually are trying to get this place back. You have to be realistic about it. It's you against millions of people on Gaia and mods who probably get crazy messages and requests day after day. You can see for yourselves how many people were hanging there. I can't name over 15 honestly. Like Weezy mentioned, even though he doesn't want to get involved, he made a GREAT point: you're trying to fight for "cinemas" when none of you guys actually sat and watched the movies, you used the "lobbies", The mods aren't gonna bring back cinemas just because you guys only used PART of the whole experience. It was probably too much trouble and copywright hassle to get the movies that everyone wanted to see and someone was probably too lazy to hear about the clone complaints and didn't want to fix it. It's just cinemas, you guys are acting like you can never see your friends again. There are great alternatives for you guys to hang out (rally, towns, guilds PM's, etc) Just pick one and be grateful that you guys can still see each other some sort of way.
Look at your post in forums, how many people besides the little group of folks who hang in cinemas has responded? For those who may not know, it's a cold world in the forums, and if the topic doesn't involve something that they give a s**t about, then they're not gonna care. I'm surprised someone hasn't said "get over it" and moved on with their lives. Half of those people have NEVER even heard of cinemas, even when it was being advertised in the daily announcements (and yes, for you newest members, it was announced everytime they featured a new movie.) They just know towns and forums. People aren't going to care about something that they don't know about.
Some of you took Cinemas for granted anyway. Always talking about how bored you were and how "quiet" and "depressed" it was and how you guys were thinking about quitting...what kind of ******** dedication is that if you're going to quit because you can't have your way? And as for sparkness, I'm not even trying to call her out because she came at my boyfriend the wrong way, but I do think she needs to keep her damn mouth shut about the topic. Because she's trying to call somebody a downer when she was the main person who was saying she doesn't have anything better to do so she's stuck in this "shithole" (she was referring to cinemas) and she also stated how she wishes that she could quit this place. I honestly don't see what the ******** is stopping her, but for her to call someone a downer after all that s**t she said not even 3 MONTHS ago. How are you gonna support something that you don't even really give a s**t about???
You don't have to do this, but I suggest you guys should just move on with your lives. If you think that cinemas is the only thing that's amazing about Gaia, then maybe you should quit because there's so much more to it than just cinemas...just give something else a try. If the mods do decide to bring cinemas back, then that's great! You can b***h at them for being misleading and not stating that they just took it down for maintence but by the look of it, I just don't see it coming back...
On the bright side, we're away from Dan and Jesgans dumb asses! 3nodding
