White walls surrounded her. They were draped with bright and vibrant cloths of all sorts. Her large, bright eyes took in the surrounding sights as she walked hand in hand with the lady who took her from her home. Young Kaylan was afraid yet she was curious of everything around her. Her naked frame was covered with a plane white dress. A silver cord was tied off around her waist. A matching cloak hung off her shoulders to keep her warm. It was too big for her and dragged on the ground behind her, but she didn't seem to care.
She had been put in a room all by herself. It was plain and empty except for a bed and a stand where a lamp stood, lit. She had cried all night and all day. Finally the woman, her name was Caralyn, came and took her. Now she was walking to a new place. A door opened and blonde woman spoke. "Rayden, she won't stop crying. Shamayin had ordered you to watch over her until we find somebody else to keep her."
Rayden sighed. He pushed his long, red hair back over his shoulder as he stood up from his desk. "I have work to be done, how does He expect me to watch her and get it done?" He sighed yet again as he offered his hand to Kaylan.
"Shamayin ordered that I take over your work for you. Your full responsibility is to care for Kalyan and make sure she doesn't cause any trouble." Caralyn didn't offer any more words. She turned leaving the two alone as she walked out the door. Rayden offered the young girl a smile. She only returned his smile with a nervous pout.
It didn't take long for Kaylan to warm up to her new housemate. He was always so kind and warm towards her. He even let her play with his hair when she wanted to. Rayden enjoyed having her around and as she grew older he slowly began to fall in love with her. Her smile was so addicting he would do anything just to see it. He loved her bubbly laughter and the way her eyes lit up every time she saw him.
It was warm summer evening when Rayden had returned home to her only to find her naked, spread out on his bed. He stopped, dropping the papers and documents on the floor. She was staring through the large sky light above his bed, up at the passing clouds. Tears streamed down the sides of her face. She didn't make any notion that she knew he was there. She stayed quiet, unmoving, staring up.
Rayden made his way slowly to her. He couldn't' take his eyes off the sight of her. He had not seen her like this since she was a child. Now she was a blossoming woman. She was breathtakingly beautiful. She still held the same innocents as the day he met her, which made her all more attractive to him. "Kaylan?" He started towards her and grabbed the sheets off the floor. "What are you doing?" he asked as he threw the sheets over her body.
Kaylan sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Take me home, Rayden." Pain and sorrow gripped at Rayden's heart. She was homesick. He had known it to be wrong to take her from her home, but the gods ordered it. She was too dangerous to be left alone. Her power could develope and she'd become the monster she was created to be. Rayden never believed it. She had never done anything to hurt any person. She was the kindest soul he had ever known. Even the angels in the heavens weren't has kind as her.
Rayden scooped her up in his arms and held her to his chest. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." He felt Kaylan go limp in his arms as she broke down in tears. He was helpless in this situation. There was nothing he could do to soothe her pain, he did his best with everything he could. "Someday," he said in a whisper, "you'll be free. I promise you on my grave I will set you free." His lips graced her forehead. He only wish he could be better for her. If only there were a way to take away her pain. It was partially his fault she felt this way. He had taken her away from her home too. It wasn't just Joanus or Caralyn.
Kaylan's golden eyes peered up at him. A small smile spread across her rosy lips. "Kiss me." Rayden smiled and closed the distance, capturing her sweet lips in the most passionate kiss he'd ever experience. She let the sheets fall away from her body, allowing her to be exposed to Rayden. She admitted her love for him and gave into him. Rayden was dizzy with passion and took everything Kaylan had to offer. His heart was soaring in the clouds.
Kaylan was in a bubbly mood for months after spending her first night with Rayden. Her smiles brought new smiles to gloomy faces. Everywhere she went she brought cheer to the people she passed. To Joanus it was a bit odd. He had seen her happy, and most days she wore a smile, but he sensed an inner depression that she hid from everybody, but now that was gone and for some reason she was far too happy for anybody to be allowed to be.
He had made a visit to speak with Rayden. When questioned Rayden admitted that he had no idea why she was suddenly so full of cheer. Of course Joanus didn't believe the man, so he had sought out other ways to find out what was going on.
It was beautiful night. The moon cast a silvery beam of light across the too nude bodies entwined with each other. Rayden's soft silky hair brushed acrossed Kaylans face. She smiled at him as he made love to her. Her quiet pants came to a stop when the door burst open behind them. In a rush Rayden pulled the sheets up over them and demanded to know what was going on. He prayed whoever it was didn't see who he was with.
Candle light washed over them as Caralyn and Joanus walked in. "Just as we suspected," she said with a sigh. "You know how unacceptable and wrong this is Rayden. How could you do this?" Kayla whimpered in fright as she pulled Rayden close to her. The look in Joanus eyes scared her. Then again, Joanus' eyes were always frightening to her.
Both Joanus and Caralyn stormed over to them. Joanus yanked Rayden out of the bed by his hair. Kaylan cried out as Caralyn grabbed her arm harshly. She yanked the sheets from the bed and wrapped them around Kaylan. "Rayden!" Kaylan cried out to him as he was dragged from the room. She didn't understand what has happen or why. Before she knew it she was being locked up in a dank prison cell with nothing but the sheet from Raydens bed. Anguish washed over her. She wondered where they took Rayden and if he was okay.
"Kaylan?" She heard his voice in the darkness. She crawled over to the bars and looked out, but she didn't see him. She called out to him. "I'm sorry," he told her. "I'm sorry I did this to you." Kaylan sat back and cried. "I love you, Kaylan. I promise I will get us out of here." Kaylan could only nodd. She wished she could have him hold her, but she worried that she might never be able to held by him again.
In the morning men came to take Rayden away. She shoved her face against the bars demanding to know where they were taking him. They told her he was to be executed for his crimes. Moments later men came for her too. They threw robes over her and dragged her off. The room was filled with men and woman. She found Rayden with his hands bound sitting in a chair in front of a row of people. His head hung limp, and tears soaked his cheeks. Kaylan wanted nothing more than to run to him and comfort him, but big hands stopped her.
She listened as the people in front of her accused him of his crime; treason. Kaylans knees buckled when they annouced he was to be beheaded. Two large men grabbed Rayden by the arms. Kaylan screamed for him. Her body shook with anger. She felt rage fill ever part of her being. She lost her self in it. Everything went dark.
Screams of terror and death brought her back to reality. Blood was matted in her hair. Blood soaked her hands. Her hands trembled as she looked down at the body before her; it was Rayden. "Oh no," she put a hand to her mouth. He's lifeless eyes stared up at her. "Oh gods, no. Please." She stood on shaking legs. She looked up to find Joanus with this sword out. It hissed, white hot, ready to strike her down. Instead of standing there allowing him to kill her, she lashed out at him. She growled as she lept over Rayden's body. She didn't get far before the white hot blade pierced her chest. The world around her tilted and went black.
