It’s here, right past the chill of my eyes
And the poison that is my blood.
It’s past the pain of my loneliness,
And the dull edge of dejectedness that slices through me.
It’s snuggled next to my hidden and stored emotions,
And is protected by my wall of secrets and securities.
Its wounds are still raw and bleeding.
It needs your tender, loving care and your gentle hands.
It needs your smiles and your compliments.
It writhes every time you look or speak to another.
It needs your help like a fish needs water.
It wants you to take out the knives that pierce it.
It wants you to hold it and heal it.
It wants you to own and take care of it.
