Stepping Away
I have walked this path,
With some one always taking the same steps,
At the same time,
Yet only one has tread where I have,
And it is only I.
And by my side is only my shadow.
No one has offered me a hand,
When I have fallen.
And only one has stayed with me,
Through all these ages.
In order to exist,
It needs me.
And I need only my shadow.
My shadow has been my existence,
And also my downfall.
It has become an addiction,
On this broken pathway,
Slowly eating away at who I once was.
A shadow of fear,
And on of pain,
Is all I have.
A shadow of destruction.
Now in order for me,
To become whole once more,
I must shed the darkness,
And my shadow.
In order to step into,
The light of existence.
Where I can be free,
With nothing preventing me,
From diving full,
Into my life,
In the vast,
Unwielding,
World of hope.
Where pain is shared,
And dreams created,
And shadows are fought,
With determination and friendship.
Now it is my turn,
To be in charge.
To make my own path,
Instead of my shadow,
Being the one,
To create who I am to become.
Now it is my turn,
To make a choice.
