Back in the cottage, the rest of the family wakes. Kathrynia's mother walked through the cottage, checking on her children. Rath, Kathrynia's brother stood in his room practicing his fencing. His sword swiftly flies through the air with expertise. After many years fighting, Rath now twenty has become captain of the town's army.
"Good morn, mother," he said
"'Tis so but no going out," she replied
"Mother, please do not be so superstitious."
"Every one else is and thing do seem to go a ride during the full moon," she went to Kathrynia's room next door and opens it.
"How is my birthday girl," she looks around and sees that she is not there.
"Where is she?"
"I have no clue."
"You do so. I can see it in you eyes. I am you mother now tell me."
"Okay if you truly want to know she went outside."
"Blasted, why did you not stop her?"
"Mother, it is her birthday and she is now an adult. She can take care of herself and plus it is like nothing bad happens during the day time."
