I haven't gotten one. Ever. Thats why I dont like the rare events. And if the chances go up with the count of members, the system will be nearly obsolete in about a year or two due to millions of defunct accounts lowering the chances of getting a rare.
It's so simple, isn't it?
I don't actually know how it works, nobody seems to, we all make guesses, but doesn't that sound like the right kind of solution? The idea that it has to adjust itself over time to the amount of users... sounds ridiculous when you can just use a percent of online users. And that's what I heard it was all those years ago when I joined. All this time I assumed it randomly choose people who were online to give them an event. Like if there was 1000 online it gave 10 of them an event, and so now that there's 40,000 online it should just give out 400 events at a time.
As a (pointless) suggestion, what if the script activated 3 times an hour and gave out events to 1% of the users who requested a page from Gaia. That number of people will get a exclaim That way anybody who's online can get one, no matter how many there are. Sort of like a "Hey, the next 10 customers get their purchase free!" You know, first come first serve and based on how many people are in the store.
Fair? I think so. Anything but how it works now.
Here's something else to think about.

And with so many new people joining for the upcoming battle system, theres gonna be even less Rare Events. Which I believe should just be renamed to "Endangered" or "Extinct Events."
Someone else called them as rare as Bigfoot sightings sweatdrop
Considering the economic effects of rare events, (a topic for another day) I think they should fix the event system. Do you agree? I mean, can anyone find a reason that it should stay like this?

Otherwise we'd have too many items which would lower the prices if too many were cycling through Gaia.
At least those are my thoughts. >___<
