gonk Well, I won't be going to Otakon this Sunday... as in, it is Sunday right now and I am not at Otakon.... I am sort of sad, because I would actually like to go.... Except that I don't have the energy to pull on me cosplay outfit again... and without that cosplay outfit, the clothes I have to wear are wrinkled... plus, my hair is a mess. >__<; If I'd woken up earlier, maybe I could have fixed all of this... but at this point, it would take an hour for me to get some ironed clothes together and all that, then it would take about half an hour to an hour (I think) to get to the Convention Center.... The Dealer's room closes at three... so I would have had about two hours to cruise around there... then the whole sh-bang ends at five... gonk
sweatdrop I just didn't have the energy to pull on the cosplay outfit again... I just have been completely unprepared, otherwise as well. TT TT; This must be a lesson to learn... I was looking forward to going, because Marmalade said she wasn't going to go last night... which meant that today, I could have gone and done whatever I wanted, without having to worry about consistant restroom stops and hearing over and over about how hungry and bored my constant companion is. x__X;; It's a con.... you watch all the pretty costumes walk by... you look at random Anime shows, purely just because... But I have to worry about "Is this PG-13" (and usually the ratings are a lot different from American ratings anyway....)
I wanted to cruise the Dealer's room one last time... T T Even if I didn't find anything. I might have bought an artbook or something... I've decided that next time, I'll bring at least fifty dollars, but keep it all so that I can buy a Japanese top thing... aaaw they were so pretty. These vest things that had sash-like clothe hanging down from them. Dx It was so. Pretty. But it was fifty dollars...!
I also really really REALLY wish that I had a camera... with, like, actual film in it or something. Dx Everyone has digital cameras these days... they can take like ten million pictures and keep every single one.... I've been wanting a digital camera for a looong time... this is the third or fourth Convention I've gone to where I could not take a single picture of anything. TT TT; I really wish I could have taken pictures... for the memories. I could look at them right now, and all. Right now, all I have are two cards for these guy's websites where I might be able to fish out some familiar con-faces and then I can ninja steal those pictures. Maybe even one of myself. sweatdrop
I went as Akabane again. twisted A lot of people really like that costume! Even though I think the hat is kind of patchy and iffy at times, people really love it. o_o; (One guy said it was a "pill hat" though. o_O)
But it's been really cool. xd People will come up to me and say things like, "That cosplay is SO totally awesome!" and other people will just yell out, "Akabane!!" or "Doctor JACKAL!" and I'm like, " xd *holds up peace sign*"
They get a kick out of it when I start pulling out my "scalpals" too. xd But, tck, you're SUPPOSED to have scalpals, man... always! I ran into about three or four other Akabane people too. xd One guy was walking around with an Himiko cosplayer and she even had little plastic vials of colored sugar! xd So she could ACTUALLY eat the poisonous powder. That was awesome. xd They told me that they'd been looking for a good Akabane cosplayer, but that it's hard to find one because, not only is he thin, but he is actually tall. o___o; I can't do much about tall, but they said I was thin! >D
Hey, it's all about how the material is shaped, too. I got the top half of a woman's black business suit and sewed it to the skirt. xd Heh. So the thing was already shaped well, and I could tied the back together with string... (that snapped, but I sewed it back together. ^ ^ It worked just fine too.) So, yeah... when cosplaying, you have to understand what it is that makes that character so defined... those are the elements that you work off of... Like, is their hair really stand-out-ish? Is it that special spikey kind of hair? Are the bangs really complicated? What pieces of the outfit are the most notable points of the outfit? Akabane's hat was most important. @_@;; So I wish a little more could have been done with my own hat, but... well, people still liked it...
I was iffy about the wig, too. Akabane has straight hair and this wig was all curley. >P I didn't like that at all. At Katsucon, I'd seen a girl with the straight black hair and I envied her, because that was her real hair. xd Auge. I didn't enjoy wearing that wig sometimes. That thing became so damned itchy, late in the evening...
I was lucky, though, because there was a pair of black suit kind of slacks in our house that fit me. o_o; Still don't know where they came from, but they were a nice addition... then, well, we've got pleanty of buttoned down shirts. I bought the black tie from Burlington Coat Factory. xd I luv that tie... I know how to tie it myself, too. Weee!
Yus, this has definitely been my most favorit cosplay so far. It was affordable but cool at the same time! I get pictures every single day I wear it. xd *Heh*
Alas, I don't stick to my character very well. gonk Blasphemy, I know, but I go to conventions to cut loose and have fun... In Character happens when I obtain those brief personal interviews with some people who are taking pictures. sweatdrop Like the two guys last night who asked for a picture and the one guy requested that I kill his friend. xd I was like, "^ ^ Of course!" although, we decided I'd kill Marmalade again, instead. Since she was already dea. @_@ (she was cosplaying Sadako, again).
Wish I coulda kept that picture. xd
Ah, I went to Masquarade, this time by myself, save for Marmalade and her friend. We went to the big Mariner Arena and dayum, that thing was huuuuge. o___O; But they had those big screens so you could see people close up. I have to say, the masquarade wasn't as great as it could have been... I think I've just been spoiled by Katsucon's masquarades. Those things are soooo great. xd The best thing that I will never forget, is the three headed Godzilla dragon monster that was singing Bohemian Rhapsody. xd My god, my sides were hurting and my eyes were all moist because I was laughing so hard. That was the funniest damn thing I've seen in any Masquarade, anywhere...
Although the show wasn't as great as others that I've seen, there was a brief like five seconds when Yoshiki-san came up on stage to just give a shout out to us all. xd I was like, "Oh.... it's the X Japan guy. Dag, his English is really good. xD"
He said, "What can I say? ....I love you guys!" and we were like, "YAAAAAY!" and then he was gone. xd *shrugs*
There was Card Captor Will. xd Heheheheheheh. Our personal Stand-Up Comedian/Cosplayer. Hrm. He spoke about how Man-Faye attempted to join that reality show about Real Superheroes. o_____O I had no idear. And now Man-Faye has his own uh... documentry on Comcast On Demand... G'lord...
So that was there... And then there was the Gaia Social thing. xd Holy hell.... We were all standing in that huge lobby where the fountains are, and Jakobo went up one floor to drop stuff down to us, while we were all in a huge... crowd... He was dropping off Kiki Kitty plushies, AFK hats, a shirt... >_' We didn't get a single thing. But the reason for that is, every time something would fall near us, all these people just BUNCHED UP together and no one could move to grab at anything. @___@;;; I nearly lost mah hair in that crowd. Dx Sooo we didn't follow them outside.
Actually, a copper had come up to Jakobo and told him he had to stop, because we might have begun to riot or something. xd Muwahahahha. They had to take it outside... *shrugs*
Annnnd aside from that, what else? We watched some photoshoots. Did a LOT of people watching, which is always fun. ^ ^
There was a Cloud cosplayer with all these swords on his back, and he was marching down the hall, while Rude and some other Turks and Advent Children people were walking along side and in front of him, exclaiming, "Make way for Cloud! Make waaaay for Cloud!"
It was like watching the President and his special security people walking down the hall. xd It was sooo funny. So we actually ended up following Cloud, down to the main lobby where the photoshoots were, because that's where I would be meeting mah friends.
I met some people from Dr. Moreau's island thing there. The people that Risth/Kuraino-chan knows... Dx It made me become aware of the fact that I have no Gaia buddies to meet in person. Weh...
Speaking of meeting people in person... I think... but I'm not sure... that I might have met Lindsey-person a few times on Friday. o___O; Because er... well she SOUNDED like Lindsey-person... and kept talking to me like she knew me.... and she was walking around with this Captain Planet cosplayer...... and er.... well, she said she'd be there and I said I'd be cosplaying Akabane, so... xd *shrugs* Never asked if it was really her though, because I know that random people will just sit down and start talking to you at Conventions. Like the KuroNeko guy that ate the Killer Bunny... He just sat down with us and started talking to us... o_o For... like... an HOUR... and I had NO idea who that guy was... It seemed like Kuraino-chan and Azure-chan were just kind of.... not engaging in any conversation with the guy... So he just was talking to me, instead... > < And well, I'll talk to just about anybody because why shouldn't I? That's why you GO to Conventions. So you can meet people, among other things... If people come off as annoying just because their talking to you, I've got nothing against that... One, because I often feel like I'm being annoying when I talk to people. >__O; So... who is to say I should turn anyone else away when I never like to be turned away, myself?
So I just spoke to him and so did Marmalade. x___X; It was really weird, but I wasn't about to just turn away from the guy and not speak to him at all... He wanted to talk to somebody. He was probably feeling a bit lonely to. So, I talked to him. Like the girl I met in line and all the other random people that you just start talking to, right out of the blue. o___O; Because we're all there for the same general reasons, which means we've got to have SOMETHING in common or.... something. *shrugs*
So yeah. People always just start talking to you, when you're at a Con. So I didn't know if this was Lindsey-Person or just some completely random person that thought we were chilling every time she saw us. xd ??? It was funny, the first time, because I was just ambling on down the hall, and I see her and the Captain Planet guy and some other people and those guys kind of slow to a stop and look at me, so I stop too.
Me: "o___o *?? picture? What's going on?*"
And she's like, "It's Akabane................. I'm too scared! I can't do it!" and she kind of slinks back away from me.
Me: "..................... _xD Eeeeh wha...? Okay well then I'll just.... go... over there, then..." *sidesteps away and waves a goodbye*
xd It was so random. Next time I saw her, we were in the Dealer's room. I was sitting with Marmalade at the corner of the room and she comes up and says like, "Ah, well you are friends so I'll hang out with you."
Me: "o__O Oh... okay.... *now wondering if this is Lindsey-Person*"
forget what was talked about that time. sweatdrop I just never out-right asked though. x___X; *shrugs*
Final time I saw her was when Marmalade and I were waiting to be picked up at the front of the building. She approaches again, like, "Wow, you guys are still here?" and I'm like, "XD Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees."
I "shook hands" with Captain Planet. xd Conceiling a scalpal in my palm. So he was like, "Aaaaw, but why must I be cut? Dx" and I was like, "Because red just goes so well with you. ^ ^" he's like, "oooooh okay!"
xd The whole time, I have no idea who that is, either...
So now, I have three untranslated volumes of Death Note... o_O *shrugs* I have.. erm.... Genshiken 5. Which I could have gotten at Barnes and Nobles.... =_=; I wanted to find 6, though...
And erm... I have a DVD about scary stories from Tokyo. xd It looks good, but... hrm... haven't watched it yet.
I saw the Death Note Notebook, but didn't buy it. @_@ Thing is twenty dollars, too. Reek!
So, that's muh story and I'm stickin' to it. I really wish I had some pictures though. v v; So many times I would have totally gone on a picture spree... especially during the photoshoots...
I shall leave off here, for now. I must work on OBQ page like whoa. gonk Unt I am vary hungry...
Ja mata *bows*
