Oh, don't you love highschool in North Carolina? Fire Drills, Fake-Lockdowns, and Tornado Drills that could easily be mistaken for a 'duck-n-cover'.
Today in second hour, health, we had a Tornado Drill. Luckily, we weren't forced into the hallway where it smelled like fish and pee, but had to crawl under our desks, sit on our knees, and duck our heads. When they finally sounded the damn alarm, it sounded like a bomb warning. As in "Oh crap, the Russians are going to kill us all with nuclear bombs in the 60's" alarm.
So, we all crawl under our desks, complaining that we're too big to fit under them. So, coach tells us all we have to crawl in our knees, and duck our heads, or else we'll stay like that all class as punishment for not doing it right. So, you hear people bumbing their heads as they have to untangle themselves and do it again. My shoe fell off and my calves burned from the exertion.
When it was finally over, everyone bumbed their heads again. Don't you love desks?
(but really, I haven't done a Tornado Drill since, second grade. I haven't done a real Lockdown Drill ever. Just a real Lockdown.)
