The Beach's Terrific Glory
The sun is out, the skies are blue, [1]
The sight of the sand welcomes you. [2]
Hermits, rocks and glass bite at your feet, [3]
Ants crawl onto your towel searching for something sweet. [4]
You are vulnerable in your nearly naked glory, [5]
But everyone does it so there's no need to worry. [6]
The rays of the sun singe your skin [7]
Just before sunscreen's rubbed in. [9]
You ignore the sting for just a short dip [10]
And tiptoe through the sand [11]
Just before leaving land [12]
For the blue mystery up ahead. [13]
You know no dread [14]
For the dangers near, [15]
For the lifeguard says no need to fear [16]
So you wade in cold water [17]
Knowing not what lies in her [18]
And swim in the frigid brown muck.[19]
But with any good luck [20]
There'll be no need to worry [21]
of the beach's terrific glory. [22]
