I was driving home earlier with my mom and sister in the car. Mom and I had been at the mall and decided to pick Donavon up before heading home. We drove around a corner and saw fire trucks and police cars. We thought it was just a small wreck. But when we got around the other car, one was upside down and a man with a blue shirt was in the car. His head was bent weird on his neck and the other car was smashed in. I'm not sure if he survived, but the odds aren't good. He was just a normal guy, maybe looking for a job or trying to hold onto one. He could have a wife and kids who didn't know what had happened. It hit me that that could've been me and my mom if we had gone home and then came back to get Donavon. We would've been on that side of the road near that area at the time we saw the wreck, and it could've been us or we could've watched it happen. I have no idea how it happened, but when I got home I thought up a poem, sort of relating to it. I wanna so it to you guys...
All Gone
constant,
violent change
I'm running to keep up.
Then suddenly,
it's all gone.
Like the whispering wind
and fading stream.
All gone,
never to be retrieved.
That poem reminded me that horrible things happen. In the rush of the day something could happen and we die. There's no guarentee we'll wake up tomorrow to the annoying alarm and sit through the same traffic. In a second of misjudgment, it could all be gone.
