Mom woke me up in a panic today when she told me that Hershel wasn't in his pen. I jumped up and began searching the table and clucking for him. I got nothing. Within moments however, Mom found him, up in the den in a box by the window of all places. We have absolutely NO clue as to how he got there. I mean, that table is a good four feet off the ground. I was terrified and shocked and relieved at the same time. We didn't have much time to mull over it however, as the family was going out for a group haircut. We had to leave in a few minutes. Mom suggested taking Hershey, but I said no, he had enough excitement for one day. As I was leaving however, I happened to look back and saw that Hershel was almost able to jump out of the box. I decided not to take a chance with his safety again and took him with me.
When I got into the car, I acted normal, waiting to see how long it would take Mom to hear the cheeping. It only took a few seconds. "You Didn't..." She said with a grin. I told her that we were lucky to find him the first time and that I didn't trust Belinda with Hershey. Mom smiled and drove off. When we got to Lisa, the Hairstylists', she heard the cheeping and begged to see him. Well, you know how I love to show my birds off. Lisa just crooned over him. He slept most of the time we were there.
When we were going home, I asked about lunch. Mom asked if I wanted to go to the sub shop. I said yes. Mom figured out quickly that I wanted to show Hershel off again. I took him inside in a hat. There was only one guy working there that day, which made me a little upset, but it was still cool showing baby Hershel off. I had to whistle around the cashier to hide the cheeping.
So Hershel's at home again in a much bigger box, getting ready for bed.
Sadly, none of the other eggs hatched. I'm going to call a breeder soon to give Hershel some companions.
