Well, we went out after college was done, and as we drove up, I initially thought that the chickens were still in the run since I didn't see anyone out. Then a lone butter baby appeared and then the whole flock. I felt sorry because I didn't bring any treats out. The de-worming got done a few days ago. I bet the chickens feel much better now. Anyway, Marcie was the first to come up, and we snuggled for a little bit before I let Mr. Burby out. The last time I went out, I stuck Powderpuff in with him so he'd have company and she could brood. But when I let him out, she was eager to leave. You'd think Powder'd like a nice quiet place to sit, but I guess not. Earl and Wilbur were sitting too. I don't understand why they decide to sit right before winter. If I let them hatch babies, they'd become chick-sicles.
As I was walking down to get water, I saw Jenny sitting under the tree. So I made a detour and went to see the turkeys first. I though Jenny might be laying her last egg of the season. For a while I thought the turks had stopped laying, but the day before I found an egg in their pen. As I pet her, she made a "whirr" noise. I would have stayed longer, but I started to hear a chicken crying out in fear. It was Milt. He has a very distinctive voice.
I ran out of the Turkey pen and ran over to the chicken coop. I looked inside and Milt was nowhere to be found. When I finally looked under the pen I saw him. I tried getting him out with a broom, but he just went further under there. So I decided to just wait for him to come out on his own.
Mattie thought she found a mouse, and I ended up moving some stuff around so she could search. She went right to the last place she found a mouse, but there was nothing there. She also seemed pretty intent on the floor near the small door. However, we found nothing. If there was a mouse, it's hopefully gone by now.
Marcie, Stella, Burby and snuggled for a while. When it was time to go, Milt still hadn't come out, so I asked Tom to keep an eye out for him. It also turns out Dad looked under Jenny and found thirteen eggs.
