Shadows mounted on the wall,
Like dark picture frames,
Thunder clouds lowly lingering,
Playing their usual games.
Lightning causing tension,
In this long-lost night,
Adrenaline pumping inside,
Gaining pleasure in my fright.
Windowsills painted with rain,
Something catches my eye,
Outside on the hill you stand,
Something I just can't deny.
Your fading smile is threatening,
As my nerves so eagerly tense,
In the light of the storm you're gone,
A nearly unstandable unpayable expense.
