Art is making something out of nothing and selling it.
Good plan!
For years now I've been toying with the idea of actually selling some of my art.
But I've never actually got round to doing it! I think the main reason for this was the niggling lack of confidence in my work and the fear of failure. Neither off these are valid reasons for not getting off my arse and trying to make a go of it, but they are easy excuses and that's a big difference.
Philip Adams
It seems to me that people have vast potential. Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever.
Well then, it's time for me to try some "extraordinary things"!
More than anything I'm fed up with being like "most people". I look around myself in this little town and I've seen what a dull and boring life most people lead. You get up, go to work, come home, go to bed. I can't carry on with that kind of existence, it's sucking out my will to live!
So, I've missioned to make myself different, to stand out from the crowd, to be confident in myself. I've been building up to this for ages and I think it's time for a change. I'm going to try and realise some of that potential and take some of those risks.
Now it's time to unleash myself upon the world!
Sophia Loren
Getting ahead in a difficult profession requires avid faith in yourself. That is why some people with mediocre talent, but with great inner drive, go much further than people with vastly superior talent.
Exactly!
I'm not saying that I have vastly superior talent, it's just that the last 9 years of my life have been utterly BORING! I've plodded along with my humdrum jobs and my string of dull-as-dishwater boyfriends and it's got me nowhere.
And everyone complains about the same thing!
I don't know one person who is truely happy with their life, not one person who can honestly say that right now they are content with ther lot. Yet they don't do anything about it, they just put up and shut up. They lumber through their own monotonous drudge without ambition. They've forgotten their dreams.
Just as I'm beginning to remember mine.
Dylan Thomas
Someone's boring me. I think it's me.
I hear too many people every day saying "I'm bored".
And I'm fully guilty of it myself. Looking at it now my life has been incredibly boring! But I'm the only person I can blame for that. I've settled for mediocrity and conventionality.
Why?
Becuase it was easier than taking a risk.
Diane Von Furstenberg
Life is a risk
Which means that if you don't take the risks then you're not living your life.
It is the realisation that I'm boring myself that has finally given me the drive that I need to try and make a go of this! So what if I fail? If I don't try I'll never know and I'll have more regret for the things I didn't try than I'll have for the things that I tried and failed at. Because, even if I've learned nothing else over the last 4 months, I can see now that you can learn a lot from your mistakes and failures.
This evening I will be starting work on a fabulous new website promoting my art. I'm going to get out there and show people my talent. Some people will like it, others wont, but that's for them to decide.
I've got no excuses now.
