I know this one girl who is hecka cool. Anyone would be lucky to have a friend like her. She is loyal and cares about making her friends happy. She's funny, kind, compassionate. One of the nicest people I will ever know, and most thoughtful.
But she is not the perfect friend because she is a people pleaser.
A people pleaser is someone that needs everyone to like them. This is an impossible achievement because there are bad people out there that like to make their friends feel bad. Take drug users for example, and that's where some peer pressure comes in. These bad people are called abusers, and they really aren't friends. They don't care about your happiness or sorrow.
So this hecka tight girl has to spend more of her time and energy with
"friends" (abusers) to get them to be happy with them, taking away her time having fun with true friends.
A true friend won't give you a list of what you can and can't do, what hair you can have, and who you can't be friends with. They will be your friend knowing you have their back. That's enough. The perfect friend accepts you for who you are.
So, to the person I write this to, what will it take for you to know you are truly special, and please only those that care about your happiness, rather than those that take pleasure in making you feel bad?
