Long hair is considered bohemian, which may be why I grew it, but I keep it long because I love the way it feels, part cloak, part fan, part mane, part security blanket.
Whoops.
I did love my hair.
But I thought it was a bit boring. I've always had lovely long hair, it's never been shorter than my shoulders. It's all brown and wavey. Correction, it WAS all brown and wavey.

Like anyone else, there are days I feel beautiful and days I don't, and when I don't, I do something about it.
Just recently I've rediscovered my inner sparkle. For ages I'd been feeling a bit drab, but when my ex left I suddenly found an inner PiX who was fun and wild and outrageous and I like her a lot! She'd always been there but years of controlling boyfriends had been keeping her well and truely hidden.
So I let her loose! Mad nights out, mad days out, crazy clothes and lots of laughing!
But something was missing. No amount of crazy clothing was working. So, yesterday I decided to do something I've been wanting to do for years. I wanted PURPLE HAIR!
Lets face it, it couldn't be that difficult right?

Last night my friend and I sat down and attacked my poor boring hair.
I'm not a girle girl, I have no idea how mascara works, lip gloss tastes funny and I can't walk in shoes with heels, so I figured the best bet was to get a friend who knows about these things to dye my hair for me.
Mistake.
The bleach went on at around 9pm. by 9.05 my roots were platinum, the ends were still brown. by 10.05 the roots were white, the middle was orange and the ends were still brown. But it had to come off before my hair fell out. But that was ok cause the Violent Violet Dye would cover it up! So we slapped it on.
20 minutes later my friend looked at it, burst out laughing and legged it!
And this morning, as I sit here typing, I'm wearing a very fetching purple stripey hat. My hair is now a fabulous shade of peach, I have baby pink roots, lilac streaks and aubergine ends.
And the moral of this story?

Never underestimate the power of the Hairdresser.
