BEATEN DOWN
~ I promise I'll do better~
~I promise I won't be bad~
~Just please don't hurt me again~
My father beat me.
My father strangled me.
My mother weaped with fear.
And I cried.
I promise Daddy I won't Sneak another cookie from the jar.
I promise Mommy I won't play with my toys when told to do something.
Mother don't cry
I know I never said "goodbye".
I love you so.
I forgive you Father for all the beatingsand whippings I got.
I take the blame for what you forgot. Now hiding away from the daily beatings,the whippings, I still cry afraid to go to sleep.
~I pray dear Lord~
~That when I die~
~You will take me in and cure my father~
~Of his wicked illness.~
Now their home
Drunken and unalert
Unaware of what might happen.
Afraid that if I cry
I might die.
Here they come through the door
Argueing and yelling.
He must be angered by now
beating down the bedroom door.
I must have made a mistake.
Because of the anger ,
He threw me across the room.
Hearing his angered words
making Mommy cry.
I must've been crying along with her
because he told me to not cry.
My tears made Father furious
Of what I might have not done.
Mother is pleading to let me go
Still crying for my sake
Frightened of my dying.
He beats her several times
On the floor now bleeding.
Looking for my special prayer
Her last words were "YOU BEASTLY FOOL!!!!"
That had caused my horrible death.
I am BEATEN DOWN for the last and final time.
