Time stops as the pain rushes up and down his leg. Gravity pulls the blood down, soaking the ripped cloth surrounding his wound. Even more pain rushes to his wound as he pulls out the knife, and threw it at his enemy. As soon as the knife is released from his hand, it struck his enemy in the chest. The other warriors watches as his enemy fell to the ground, sensing the inner agony. Then an arrow strikes his left shoulder, and he is thrown to the ground by the power of the shot. While falling, he takes a knife from his belt and throws it at the archer. Silently it struck the archer in the head. The loss of blood makes his eye sight blur, and then darkness. Soon after, he awakens to a dark cell. He tries to move but he is chained against the wall. Suddenly the door opens, and a man in dirty battle-scarred armor walks in and says, "Come with me!" As soon as he spoke, the chains release him. The man then walks out of the cell. He follows the man out of the cell. They walk for about five minutes and then stop at a dark wall. The man whispers some words, and the wall disappears. They walk through where the wall was, and it reappears after they walked through it. He is brought to an old mage and left there. "So... Ryzen Shadowvale how are you?" asks the old mage. "How did you know my name?" questions Ryzen. "Magic," replies the old mage sarcastically. "You're so funny... Now how did you know my name?" Ryzen demands. "Well since you're the last elf..." The old mage stops himself from completing his sentence. "What!?" In a sad, deep voice, the old mage says, "It's very real. You are the last of your kind.” "This can't be true..." Ryzen feels as if he is going to cry. "I heard that there might be some still alive, but I doubt it," the old mage sorrowfully explains. Ryzen turned and stared at the ground. The old mage touched Ryzen's shoulder. Instinctively, Ryzen pushed him away and ran. "Let him pass," barks the old mage to the guards. Then Ryzen continues to run until he is out of breath and his legs feel like they were burning. When he sits down to rest, Ryzen sees his sword, knives, and armor. He gets up, walks over to it, puts the armor on, and walks away. "So you found your armor?" asks the old mage. "By the way my name is Zelke." As fast as light itself, Ryzen pulls a knife from his belt and throws it at Zelke. Ryzen watches in awe as the old mage raises his right hand and turns the knife into dust. Ryzen tries again and again until he is out of knives. Sarcastically, Zelke asks, "Having fun?" "I need to get back to where I was,” Ryzen demands. "What do you want me to do?" "Teleport me there.” "Why would I do that?" Frustrated, Ryzen explains, "Because I need to complete my mission." "Where is your team?" "I don't have one," answers Ryzen. "Do you want one?" Zelke happily asks. "No," responds Ryzen. "You are going to need one," says Zelke. "Fine," says Ryzen, frustrated as ever. A big grin appears on Zelke's mouth. They walk for a while and then came up to a dark room that had "Skyther" printed over a old rusted metal door. "What's in there?" "One of your teammates," answers Zelke. "He is the only one you will get now. The others you will meet on your mission." Suddenly the door opens and a young man walks out. His black hair brushes his shoulders. Ryzen could only see one of his eyes, but it appears bright green. "What do you want?" asks Skyther. "I want you to be on my team," Ryzen briefly explains. "If you want me on your team then you will have to fight me," demands Skyther. "Fine." Ryzen grins.
The area was cold and still. It was just a slab of rock -- no trees, no shadows, and no life. "Let the battle begin," Zelke mutters. Ryzen draws his sword and runs at his enemy. Their swords clash. The two warriors are moving so fast it all is just a blur. Then it suddenly stops. Blood soaks both warriors. Then they faint, exhausted from using too much energy. When he awakes, Ryzen finds himself in a big room. He looks around and sees Skyther three beds down from him. Ryzen sits up in his bed. He could feel every muscle in his body, and they are all sore. He stands up slowly, but falls back on to the bed in pain. "Ow." "So where are we headed?" asks Skyther. "To the king," Ryzen replies promptly. "I'm wanted by the king," Skyther blurts. “Wanted? For what?” "Well, let’s just say I was one of his personal bodyguards, and he wanted me to [kill?] someone. So I tried, but whimped out." "Whoa." "So why are you going to the king?" "Well, he killed my parents because they were different. They were elves." "Oh." After about three hours of silence, Zelke opens the door and walks into the room. "Are you ready to go?" asks Zelke. "Yes, I am," Ryzen eagerly replies. Zelke walks them to a barn. He opens the door and shows Ryzen them horses. One is black with a white mane and tail. The other is a brownish-red. "You are to ride these to the town of Galaford." Zelke opens a map and shows them the routes to Galaford. "What’s there?" Ryzen asks. "A young girl named River Vautague. She was one of the rebels there and knows the castle like the back of her hand." "Alright. So how do we find her?" "She will find you," Zelke assures him. Ryzen and Skyther sit in their saddles and stride off. As they approach Galaford, an arrow whizzes pass Skyther. "Son of a b***h!" shouts Skyther as he draws an arrow and aims his bow. "Don't kill him," Ryzen barks as he hops off his horse and walks over to the archer. "Hello. Where might be the entrance to Galaford? "You runts are not worthy of the great city of Galaford," he says calmly and spits in Ryzen's face. Disgusted, Ryzen wipes off the spit. He swiftly pulls a dagger from his belt and spins it on his finger. Then Ryzen quickly kicked dirt in the man's eyes and ran behind him. With quick snap of the neck, the man was dead. "Oh, Skyther, don't kill him!" Skyther exclaims, mimicking Ryzen. "Oh shut up." Ryzen and Skyther kept looking for Galaford and day turned to night as they rode. Soon they saw a huge black iron gate. "Go ask if anybody is home," commanded Skyther. Ryzen groans and hops off his horse. As he heads toward the gate, a warrior jumps down with sword in hand. Ryzen stumbles back and draws his sword. They circle each other for some time, then the warrior jumps at him. Ryzen steps out of the way as if it were nothing. The warrior looks surprised, then turns and tries again. This time it tries a combination of moves and then engages in combat with him. They battle for a bloody twenty minutes, but then Skyther steps in. With one arrow, Skyther knocks the sword from the warrior’s hand. The warrior drops to one knee, bows its head, and removes its helm. Skyther's mouth drops open as long jet black swings through the air and her eyes are a glowing blue. "You’re... a... a..." Skyther couldn’t even complete his thought. "A girl?" the warrior completes. "Yeah." "Are you River Vautague?" asks Ryzen. It’s just a guess, too. "Yeah, that’s me." says River. "Ahh, so you are the one we are supposed to meet," Ryzen realized. An arrow suddenly strikes Ryzen in the leg. Ryzen looks up only to see the archer he had killed once before. Ryzen clumsily gropes for a knife, but Skyther had already shot an arrow in the archer's head, pinning him up against the wooden wall behind him. Ryzen screams in agony. Skyther jumps down off his horse and rushes over to Ryzen. He looks at the blood spilling out of the wound and rips the arrow out. Ryzen screams and punches him. Skyther punches him back and knocks him out.
Ryzen awakens but keeps his eyes closed sensing someone in the room. Then, a silk-like hand is laid across Ryzen's forehead, the hand is terribly cold. Ryzen opens his eyes only to see River's giant glowing blue eye's staring down at him. "Hey," whispers River. "Oh, hey," Ryzen whispers back. River asks, "How ya feeling'?" "Ugh. Better I guess. Your hands are freezing. Here." Ryzen sits up and breaths into his hands, then puts them on her hands. Still, they were cold. Ryzen kept his hands on hers and mutters some words in a different language. Suddenly her hands were hot. "Thanks." She kissed Ryzen on his cheek. " Oh.” Ryzen was so surprised, he couldn’t have thought of anything else to say. “Well, anytime." "Oh, will you guys just stop making out already?" Skyther interrupts. All of a sudden one of the rebels bust though the door "Someone has taken one of my men hostage!!!" "What?" Ryzen exclaims. Ryzen jumps out of bed and limps quickly outside. Ryzen soon gets to where the hostage is followed by Skyther and River. Ryzen sees the hostage and the what appears to be a ninja on top of a roof. He crouches with his snow white hair flowing in the wind. The ninja is dressed in black trimmed with white edges. Ryzen is amazed at the burning red eyes which stares at him with intent to kill. The ninja says, "Ryzen Shadowvale I challenge you to a battle." "Yes. But First I must know your name." "Rem Ajilix of the Ajilix Clan famous for our Swordsmanship." Ryzen says, "Ok, let’s do this." Rem faces Ryzen in the middle street with his pale white sword, styled to resemble a wave. Its' pommel bears a single jade piece. Ryzen draws his sword which has a blade whose form suggests a bat's wing. The guard resembles a claw which clutches at the blade. Its' grip is wrapped with black leather. Rem takes advantaged of Ryzen's wound by circling and attacking. This just made Ryzen angry and with one fatal slice cut Rem's chest. Surprised by the power Rem jumps back, stabs his sword in the ground, clasps both hands together, and focuses. Just then he shouts, "Storms of Unknowable Nothing!" A giant gust of wind picks Ryzen up and throws him down. Then an arrow strikes Rem's shoulder and pins him a wall and making him stop focusing. " There must have been poison on that arrow, because I can't feel my legs..." Rem thought to himself. His eyes began to blur and soon he fainted.
Rem awakens feeling very cold and a huge pain in his shoulder. He tries to stand but is chained to the wall behind him. Then someone opens the door light shining through the door made it impossible to see their face. "What do you want?" asks Rem. " I want you to be on my team," says Ryzen. "And why would I agree to that?" Rem laughs. "If you don't, the person that hired you will kill you," says Ryzen. "And if I join?" asks Rem. "Then I will fake my death by your hand," says Ryzen. "Hmmm... I accept your offer... Under one condition," Rem thoughtfully suggested. "What would that be?” "That we stop at a village along the way," Rem suggests. "What village?" "My home village." "Ok then," says Ryzen as he walked over and unhooked Rem. As soon as he unhooked Rem, he grabs Ryzen's neck, holds him up against the wall, and says, "Don't ever chain me up again!" he says. Then he lets go of Ryzen and walks out of the cell.
That night River knocks on Ryzen's door. "Come in!" shouts Ryzen from inside. "Hey, it’s me River," she says shutting the door behind her. "Oh, hey, what’s up?" asks Ryzen, walking in the room with just leggings on. His body looks like it had be chiseled out of marble. River turns around quickly, but due to temptation turns back around. Ryzen turns to put a tunic on, and River notices many scars on his back as if he had been whipped many times. "Oh, nothing just wanted to see how you were doing." "Why, thank you. I'm good... How are you?" "I'm really good just recovered from your fight…” River pauses. “Are those hand marks on your neck?" She walked over, examining them. "Yeah, Rem just wanted to make a point to me," says Ryzen. "So he choked you?" "No... look everything is fine. Plus he will help in our search to destroy the king." "What?! He is hired gun and you are just gonna trust him like that, even after he choked you?” River exclaims. "No Skyther will be watching him closely." "Are you sure that thats enough?' "Yes it will be." "Ok then. Well i ought to be going" River said as she was turning towards the door. "Remember we start early tomorrow morning so get some sleep." he said as he folded sacks of food together. "Ok i will....Goodnight." She said turning the knob. " Night."he said as she closed the door behind her.
