so this is a poem...i wrote it about..eh...two months ago probably. i enjoyed writing it, so here it is for you to enjoy as well. It rolls like a story, but it also contains deeper meaning.

Caged

Caged like my heart
and left alone,
a lone bird waits,
if only to be known.
I stumble upon her,
She's silent as the falling snow,
but at last she peeps
as if to say "Hello."
She gazes at me expectantly,
was there something I should bring?
Her glance fall upon a lone bag of seed,
but her eyes always return to me.
I take a small handful,
of what she seems to desire,
and empty my hands,
on the floor of her cage.
She chirps and sings,
in gratitude of my gesture,
and pecks at the food before her.
In spite of her happiness,
I must shed a tear.
Her cheer reminds me,
of what I once had.
But that was before,
he tore my heart to shreds.
Noticing my discomfort,
she stops eating and looks up.
She lets out a peep,
and taps the door of her cage,
with a teeny tiny beak.
With a small tug,
I pull the door open,
and she leaps out
into my waiting hand.
She nestles herself,
into my palm,
and looks up with intense curriosity,
as more tears have started to fall.
I bring the small and delicate bird closer,
closer to my aching heart,
and then up to my face.
She nuzzles my cheek
with warm feathers,
and tweets a sweet tune
that reminds me of a song,
I had once sang.
Listening to the sweet melody,
I find myself humming,
but also something else;
The lonliness is gone,
and I smile in my triumph
over my broken heart.
The bird takes flight,
and I watch
as she dissappears
into the night.
