So I live in chicago, I see homeless people everywhere, flying signs, asking for money. Sometimes I help out, but when I see a WOMAN, holding a sign saying something along the lines of "homeless, 3 kids, need $$for food, anything helps" I just want to call their bullshit right then and there. Why? BECAUSE I KNOW HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS DUMBASS! I used to be a case worker at a shelter. It was my job to get people government aid and benefits! I'm sorry ma'am but if you are a single woman who has kids, then you don't need my money because you should already be receiving food stamps, and a nice fat welfare check which I already pay into so you already are getting my money. There is no way that a single woman with children in the city is not receiving government aid. If they are staying at a shelter, then they have a case worker who is working hard to make sure they get back on their feet.

SO! If you find yourself in a big city and see a gal holding that kind of sign, just tell them to go to the local DHS office and they will get SO MUCH MORE help from them than from your measly 25 cents. I have never seen real mothers who are homeless, begging on the corner. They are either with their kids, or looking for work, or chasing after the baby daddy.
