Today was awesome! The family had ribs and hotdogs over a grill then headed out to Angels game vs. Twins baseball game. The Angels haven't been doing well at all this season (they're in last place :p) But I knew they would pull through. I was so bummed when the Twins got in a homerun and that Vladdie Guerrero didn't do so good either, with his dinky hits and strike outs. It was then the Twins got lazy and let a base hit turn into a run (RBI) and the game was tied! It went into extra innings....nothing. Extra innings again....nada. One last time....Angels at bat....two outs...Figgins on third base and Cabrera at bat with two strikes. The pressure was on. Then Cabrera hit a great line drive sending Figgins to home, thus winning the game!!! *jumps up and down frantically with her rally monkey* It was beautiful!! Then came the fireworks. I sat down with kids half my age where I could see the show better, but I didn't care. It was amazing! The lights dimmed and all the people in the stadium, all 40,007 of them, fell silent, awaiting for the orchestra in the sky to start. The swell of the music....the lights that ignited in the sky, I bet the Gods themselves felt the rumble and roar coming from Angels Stadium. I almost cried when they started playing a jazzy version of 'America', (I believe it was Ray Charles),God rest his soul, it was like out of a movie. Mostly Sandlot, which I love. They also played 'Grand O'l Flag' and 'The Red, White, and Blue' with burst of the nations colors erupting one after another, none stop. I could feel it in my chest as the finale unfolded. I admit, I smiled like I was a small child meeting his hero face to face, and I loved it. On the way home I listened to Spicy Marmalade by Kotani Kinya and I swear I could still feel the fireworks in my chest as I sat in the car. I turned off my iPOD and on the radio was an electric guitar version of the National Anthem, I knew then and there, as I smiled, that just for a few precious minutes, I had forgotten that I was sixteen years old. And I smiled all the way home. And I'm still smiling as I am writing this right now. ~*God Bless America*~
