After many hours of thoughtful meditation and mental scrutiny, I have *gracefully* declined the opportunity the People to People program offered. I felt that at this point in time, I am not properly prepared, psychologically and emotionally, to spend an entire month in another country - across the FREAKING OCEAN - where I do not speak the language, I hardly know any of the people I am traveling with, and I am expected to be poised, intelligent, confident, and above all, not act like a tourist. I've never been away from a family member for more than a weekend, I've never been out of the East Coast, I've never been on a plane. I think it would all be a little much at once.
