Aramis wasn't a good soldier, it seemed. He wasn't willing to fight and die for a god he hated and a land he never wanted to set foot in in the first place. He was afraid of falling dead on the battlefield, because his death would leave his kids with nothing--he had no private property, nothing of value, nothing to pass on to his family. All he had given them were love and affection. Tch. As if that could pay the bills.
It was going to be a big risk. If he went on this next Crusade, there was always a chance that he'd never come back. But if he did, he'd be coming back with a huge load of money, tax-free, of course. Generous donations from the newly converted.
He'd have to think on this.
