NOTE: Finally, a story I already wrote. Well.. actually, I'm just starting the story but I'll post what I have so far. It's about Raito and this character of mine. It starts out with the first day of high school. I already had the ending in mind but it was really short, so I had to start somewhere to build up their friendship.
--
It all started on the first day of high school. I was determined to be the best in the class and I knew for a fact that everyone were dumb fools compared to me. I'd succeed and go off to college. No one would be any smarter than I was. Except for one.
Her name was Akaji Yuki.

Raito's PoV
"Yagami Raito..." The teacher said, taking attendance for the first day. I stood up for about 2 seconds and sat back down again when the teacher nodded his head and checked me off. I just barely sat on the seat when the door flew open and a girl with brown hair in two long ponytails came running in, out of breath. "... You're late, Miss...?"
"Akaji Yuki," The girl said, panting. "I'm sorry I'm late... I overslept a little. Well, actually, I woke up early but when I was eating breakfast, I was really tired so I put my head on the counter and told myself I was just resting my eyes but then my mom - she usually wakes up half an hour after I leave for school because she has to go to work and all - came downstairs and poked me and asked -"
"I think we get it, Akaji-san. Please take your seat......" The teacher looked around for a free seat and spotted the last one: right next to me. "...next to Yagami-san." He pointed to me and checked off Yuki's name. He placed the attendance on the pedastal he was standing at and looked up, just in time to see Yuki about to go down the aisle. "Ah, Akaji-san. Please get a book for yourself while you're standing." He gestured at the pile of books on his desk by the window. Yuki nodded, a little annoyed that he didn't tell her that in the first place, and went to get a book. When she finally reached her seat, the teacher started calling out names for the students to get their books. I was one of the last students called and when I sat back down again, the girl turned to me.
"Excuse me, uhm..." She flushed, embarrassed to not knowing my name.
"Yagami Raito," I said shortly.
"Right... Yagami-san, do you have an extra pencil?" She looked off.
"Yeah, let me get it out," I dug through my school bag and found another pencil, sharpened and ready to be used. I turned around and held my hand out with the pencil. It took me half a second to realize when she had looked off, she was looking out the window, spacing out. She seemed as if she was staring into another galaxy. Her brown eyes looked a little glazed and she was like a statue, her eyes not blinking. "Uhm... Akaji-san?" She blinked and looked at me.
"Oh! Sorry!!" Yuki said, flushing again. She took the pencil and averted her gaze. "Thanks." I nodded and faced the teacher, but I saw her through the corner of my eye. Yuki glanced at the window every now and then, and instead of taking notes, she was doodling. She did pay attention to the class, she turned the page to write down a few notes or turned the pages in the book. She stood up and read when she was called on or easily solved the problems on the board. After her classwork was done and she wrote down what she needed to do for homework, she turned to her drawing and continued to doodle. I was working as hard as I could, paying attention to every detail, writing down almost everything the teacher was saying, but she did everything as if she had already done it. Like, a jigsaw puzzle that you do over and over. I was just a little angry with how smoothly she was passing through all the work.
The bell for lunch rang after the first four classes and our class stood up, gone crazy with hunger. They all ran out of the classroom, leaving me and a few people behind, including Yuki. She continued to work on a math problem she was doing for the last five minutes. She tapped the pencil point on the paper, thinking hard. When she solved the problem, her eyes lit up and she wrote down the answer happily. Yuki placed the pencil on her notebook, grabbed her lunch, and skipped out the door. I stared after her and then glared at her work. She was surpassing me. No one in any of my classes had done that before. I knew that I had to beat her.
