OMG i have so much to say about it. My views, and thoughts on it are practily exploding from my head!
But please do NOT read on if you have finished Silent Hill 1 and 2...
(Games are rated M for mature so this may contain some innapropiate themes.)
Okay so heres what i think.
Silent Hill One.
So heres whereit all began. This game's main character is Harry Mason, he arrives at silent hill with his doughter Cheryl. At first there going to there favorite vacation spot. But this simple family vacation takes several turns for the worst!
(Okay there has been some confusion apperently about weather Harry are GOING to silent hill or not. No there were passing through the town.)
First Harry sees a shadowy figure on the road and turns to avoid it, crashing in the process... And when he wakes he is in the Fog filled world of Silent Hill.
This is how the game begins. At first glance all you can see is fog. (oddly enough it makes for scary surrounding, but they put it in so that you can't see building and objects in the distance disappering and appering because of PlayStations poor graphics quality.) And your edventure begins.
You may notice, as you progress further in the intro, that it get progresstivly dark. The nighmares begin. The f** dissapers and is replaced with pitch blackness. The only light you have is a lighter now. You happen to pass by a weelchair or two. This has alot of speculation, some people say it means that the disabled and weak died first. But my opinian is that it signifies Alessa's fear of becoming ill and needing hospital care. Or the fact that she may have died in a hospital. Then you see a bed and a body under the sheets. This could mean alot. The body was oviously laying down. It could mean helplessness or carelessness.
If you have played all the silent hill games you may has noticed how offten things happen in the bathrooms. In my opinian bathrooms are both pulic and privet. And alot of japans scary storys involve children getting sucked into toilets and never being seen again. This could my mythological and meaningful, or just a joke put there my the creators. IDK.
But one thing that puzzles me is that if James (from Silent Hill 2) and all the side charactors were brought there because of there sins, what did Harry do to deserve this. Yes yes i get that his daughter Cheryl wa a manifistation of Alessa, but how was that a sin? Maybe h was just used to bring Cheryl there? Its your opinian, but mine is that maybe the writers hadn't come up with that tid bit yet.
Silent Hill 2
Okay this game is... WOW the graphics and gameplay, score and voice are a little TOO good.
In this game you play as James Sunderland (right? i can never remember his last name...) A man who gets a strange letter from his wife saying that she is waiting at Silent Hill for him. But this is quite impossible, for his wife has been dead for three years. So like a loving and devoted husband, he heads for Silent Hill. But the problem is, the letter said 'In our special place' but the whole town was there special place.
Okay like i said before bathrooms must have some reason for appering in this game so much. You start off IN a bathroom. Then you make a very long and annoying walk to Silent Hill.
The first monster you encouter is called 'The Patiant' A monster with slippery grey skin and no arms (well it has arms, but there under his skin like the skin is a straight jacket) The monsters in this game resemble not only fears of our own, but manafistations of James mind. The straight jacked are people who died in hospitals or more like insain institutions. They come to James because his wife died in a hospital. Then there are Maniquins(SP?!) a monster with the same slippery looking skin. It walks on long legs, and right at the torso is cut in half with another pair of legs sewed on. This monster represents James's sexual frustration with out his wife there. (you may notice that alot of monsters in the silent hill games are sexual in some way.) And then theres my favorite monster, Pyrmid Head. This 'red devil' appers frequintly troughout the game, but you fight him very seldomly. This monster is oviously an addaptation of the truth. Throughout the game he kills Maria 3 times and then seems to give up esaly when it has the cance to kill James. Maria is the part of James who still wants to live in a lie. And the Pyrmid Heads want James to know the truth. Also Maria is an adaptation of what Mary (James's wife) thought James wanted her to be, a sexual, though woman.
There is some writing on the wall at the bar. 'There was a hole here, but now its gone.' My friend thinks it means that there was a hole to hell there, but i think that the 'hole' it is reffering to is the 'hole' James lost when his wife died.
Later on when you return to the bar there is more writing. 'James if you want to see Mary again the you should just kill yourself, but then again you are probly going some where els.' okay who the heck wrote this? Some people think it was Laura, but shes to short to. And besides it looks like a doctors hand writing... *ponder*
