I should be

I see someone who I thought I knew,
Happy and perky,
Everyday and always,
But I see her alone sometimes,
I see now that she’s broken,
Usually hidden under a mask similar to mine,
What she’s hiding is painful,
She doesn’t say what it is to me,
She says that it won’t bother her,
But I know about her mask,
And she doesn’t know anything about mine,
She doesn’t think I could have one,
She’s wrong,
She’s in pain,
I’m already broken,
So is she,
But I will help her fix herself,
So she can go on without all the heavy pain in her,
I won’t let anybody break her,
Or I will never forgive them or myself,
For letting someone keep breaking,
Or stay broken,
Is the worst thing for anybody,
Because no one should be like that,
But there has to be at least one,
So I shall be that one to be broken.
