The Gaia Journal of a crazied, mad Mod lady.
Yearbook Camp!
Well. It wasn't as exciting as last year, but it was somewhat entertaining. By the second night, I was already wishing that I could just go home and do mod work. Sad, huh? I just needed a two day break(which I loved), but after that, I was bored to tears.

Our book is going to be amazing. We developed a fantastic theme which we loved(but the judges didn't). The judges must be stupid, because the advisors of all the award winning books were really excited about our theme and thought it was fantastic.

When I got there, I was pretty shocked to find out that Nora and I had apparently swapped classes. I was going to be in Editorial Leadership and Nora was going to be in Design Focus II. Our advisor switched us when she found out that Ann Akers was teaching Design Focus II. Ann is absolutely amazing and is regarded as a design guru. Out of the three girls attending, I have the most skill at using InDesign and therefore I was the top choice for taking Ann's class. We did everything hard-copy, which was an interesting experience. I hadn't had much experience with doing "paste-ups" and using the large grid sheets, so I felt a little lost at first.

Our theme for next year is going to be "From Any Angle". We came to camp expecting to work on "Revolution", a theme selected at the end of the school year. Our previous editor-in-chief left us some cover, title page and divider ideas, so we thought it was going to work out great. But, we were really struggling with it, so we picked up our back-up plan. We got some input from some well-regarded advisors and it really came together. We have great ideas for photos(such as taking a picture of a rearview mirror to correspond with the "rearview" section, senior ads) and some good coverage ideas. Can you tell that I'm excited?

I won an award, which I wasn't expecting. In class, we got into groups of four and nominated two people for awards from each group. I didn't get nominated, so I wasn't expecting anything at closing ceremonies. But, Ann gave me an award, so I felt pretty good about myself. ^_^ I won an award for "Best Descriptive Lead" last year, so now I can add "Excellence in Design" to my collection. I really learned a lot from Ann, even though the class's workload drove me nuts the first 48 hours.

So, in closing, I'm back. I'm working. And I'm done talking about stuff none of you really care about. I just needed an outlet.
