Infiltration of Gifu Castle
By Kenneth Hedin
As the country's lord confronted me with a slight discomforting smile, we talked about the information needed for my next... Mission. I asked him what would be the pay for such a 'Task'. The Water Lord rather despises me for my talents and dislike's the thought of using a Ninja instead of just storming the castle with his own army. It is easy to see as his eyes are filled with a fiery rage and an uncanny hate of me. This so very rarely happens to him. Such is my life… such is my tale… that of a ninja’s mission and life.
The number echoed through my head as I walked back up the mountain side to my little hideaway retreat in the cliff’s; 500,000 Gil, such a great sum of money. This must be a large infiltration… and with the information I was given… there will be great deal of guards and defense armies in it. I slowly entered my hide out in the cliffs, perched under a large on hanging of stone, rock, and earth. I slowly stumbled in to my bedroom, first left, through the small doorway. There were several kunai and shuriken laid over across the messy floor, I never was one to be organized. As I carefully stepped across the floor in my bedroom making sure not to step on anything, I made it to my bed, a small mat on the floor.
“500,000 Gil... I will need to plan this mission out with great detail… can’t have any screw up’s….” I slowly mumbled to myself as I scratched my head in discomfort. The thought of raiding the Fire Lord’s East defenses was a very foolish Idea for an army even. I just need to take out the Commanding officer and the rest will fall... like a snake with its head cut off.
“I should ask Kibo if she wants to come with me on this… She rather fancies the idea of stealing from the other lords… Heh” I slowly stumbled out of my mouth to myself as my mind wandered back to the first time I met Kibo and the adventure’s we’ve had. I slowly dazed off as I entered my own little realm in a dream world, my escape. I started preparing mentally in my dream’s, planning out how I was entering, exits, what was needed… I will be ready…
The next Day I woke up with sweating with a sick feeling of shock from inside me, it was pulsing along with my heart beat. The poison from last week. It had not yet subsided from me as I stumbled to my window and puked out of it. That sick feeling, the light headed feeling, it was annoying. Just then, while I was still on the window ledge, I caught a glint of sun in my eye and looked at it. At first, I thought it must have been a traveler or a messenger from the Lord to relay information to me. Suddenly, the glint whizzed into the shadow of the on hanging and came to view from the sun’s reflection. It was a cluster of shuriken!
I quickly pushed myself back in with my hands on the ledge and fell sitting on the mat panting in shock. I quickly came to the side of the wall beside my window to get a side view of the Shuriken. They had the Mark of the Fire Lord on them!? Had word of my plan’s and missions been spread somehow?! Was there a spy while I had the meeting with the Water Lord?! I had no time to worry about these issues now. I quickly strapped on my shuriken pouch on my right leg, and grabbed my Kusari-Gama and ran to the door way. I sat leaned against the wall beside the door way and carefully peered out to see my approaching enemy.
