This is an awkward and random story that I am about to tell you.
Yet I feel it is a story that needs to be told.

Yesterday, The Fourth of July, was somewhat exciting for me.
A few misfortunes occured, but other than that, I was actually having fun.
And I haven't had fun for so long; I haven't been quite as happy as I should've been since an incident occured earlier.
When we first went to the park for the festivities,
I wasn't feeling very well.
It was scorching hot which made it hard for me to breath.
Also, I forgot to wear shorts under my skirt, and it was really windy,
So I walked around with the ends of my skirt clutched in my hand.
Then, we had to sit in the grass.
I'm allergic to grass, so I was very itchy.
But all of this didn't really bother me much.
Later, as we were walking home, we went to one of my favorite stores.
I bought a lovely camoflauge skirt, and even got it discounted because the owner of the store and her family are good friends of my family.
And when we got home, I played with my puppy on our house's porch outside.
I also sat down with my mom and discussed a few important things.
But that's off the point.
Afterwards, when it was getting dark,
My mom, my sister, and I hurried off to our special spot to watch the fireworks.
My dad couldn't come because he wasn't feeling well and he was setting up some new laptops in the house.
As we walked down the sidewalk,
I saw a baby bat, trying it's best to get across the road.
It couldn't fly very well, and it was having a very hard time to get across.
I asked my mom if I could help it and she said that I could.
So I ran over to it and attempted to pick it up.
Just then, it leaped up and my mom and she almost fell over.
The bat creeped her out, so she said, "It'll be fine. Just leave it."
We slowly walked away as I saw a car rush down the road,
And it swept the bat in midair and knocked it back to the ground.
It wasn't dead or anything, but it probably did hurt when it landed against the cold, hard, bumpy cement-filled road.
Anyways, we walked away to watch the fireworks and left the bat alone.
I knew something would go wrong; I knew it wouldn't be okay.
I was paranoid during the whole Fireworks thing.
There were even a few guys on the roof near us, setting off their own fireworks.
Although the police came and first had a hard time getting onto the roof to stop them.
It was funny though, because when the police caught them,
They set off one last HUGE firework.
And everyone cheered and clapped.
Luckily, they weren't arrested, but got off with a warning.
After the fireworks,
We walked back home.
I searched frantically for the bat as we walked down the sidewalk.
I looked under the cars; everywhere.
And no bat was to be seen.
Then, we got closer to my house.
I found the bat.
It was dead in the middle of the road.
Someone apparently ran it over with their car.
It was so sad, and I cried all night with a mind full of guilt.
It makes you feel really bad when you know that if you had done something earlier,
You could've prevented something horrible from happening.
If I could've just picked up that bat and moved it to the sidewalk or in a tree,
Or taken it home and put it in my hamster's cage or let my dad take care of it,
If only there was something, anything, I could've done earlier,
One more life would've been spared.
