My friend Floyd and I share a common interest in Apple's Macintosh computer systems. We both make our living in different fields with Macs. And he and I are both on the cusp of spending big dollars to update to the G5 towers in the near future.
The older G4 towers I use in my work today are solid and stable, but they are also old and not really what I have in mind to run OS 10.4 when it is released next year.
Based on Floyd's observations, Apple tends to discount their unsold computers two days after they introduce their speed bumped models. I now plan to pick up a middle of the line dual 2 GHz tower on that day. That computer will allow me to buy a top of the line video card when those come down in price. I can live with what comes with the baseline model until then.
