A writer of a popular book called Misery
Killed her off with much glee
Until he got his legs broken in a car crash
Stolen by a fan of his, she made off in a dash

"You must bring back Misery!" she said
But Misery was already dead!
He brought her back as if nothing happened
But Anne yelled, the book had to be chastened.

"No cheaters allowed!" she said with a knife
He had to find a unique way to bring her to life
Why did he write 'Misery's Return'?
Without his pain pills, he could not discern

She used the pain pills like treats
To keep her pet writer off his feet
She kept breaking his legs, again and again
His pain would never really end

Finally struck with an idea
Misery had been stung by a bee!
Writing away, he finished the book
But he'd never let Anne look

He feigned the destruction of the novel
While Anne sighed and cried and groveled
He killed her painstakingly
Running off with the final Misery.
