They finally got to her house. They stopped at her grandmother's doorstep. "So, how was your "fake date"?"
"Fun actually. I should do this more often."
"I guess." She looked at him for a few seconds. "Is he gonna do it? Tonight?" She looked at him more. Joseph gave her a confused look. "What?"
"Well, after most dates, the guy, well..."
"Wait, what? Do you mean, kiss?" She nodded slowly, waiting.
"Oh no, I'm not "in" love with her! She's just a human, but what am I supposed to say? I cannot break her heart."
"Oh god..."
"What?"
"Nothing. C'mon, let's go inside." She bent her head, down, and walked in quietly. "Why? Why does it hurt so bad? He's only a friend anyways..." The moment she thought of the word "friend" she let out a tear. Suddenly, a hand grabbed her, and Joseph held her close to him. "I'm sorry...so very sorry." He whispered. "I'm just not the right guy for you. Please do trust me on this one. You're a very wonderful person, but---" She smiled. "It's okay. I understand."
