Across the room you look up, look down,
Write something in your book,
I sit too far from you,
And wish that I could look.
Would you write about me?
How you love my smile,
Or is it someone else...
Who has better style?
Would you write a poem like me,
In the morning hours--
about your uncertainty
And your dreams and wishes...
Or is it simply schoolwork...
Not a journal, not a story,
Just for stupid schoolwork notes
And all of that bile?
Do you even know me
And would you know my name?
Would you never forget me...?
Hah! now that's a claim.
Without a name
In the corner of a darkened room
A feather without a plume;
She looks up, her eyes glisten--
Fantasies of fairy costume
She's dreaming in the gloom.
What is she without a name?
Yet no one is to blame;
She had one before--
she lost it just the same
She doesn't know what she became.
