I have just figured out the secret to looking nice and developing more self-esteem for myself.
Many years ago, I found that when I walked, I tended to lean forward with my head down. I didn't notice how horrid that looked till I walked past a wall filled with windows and saw how demented it was. From then on, I snapped my back up and tried looking around instead of watching the oh so interesting floor in front of me. Because of that little change at that age, I now can walk upright. Then yesterday, I bought a shirt that looked nice when I tried it on, but when my shoulders hung loose, it sagged on the neck. I had to hold my shoulders back to keep it decent. When I looked in the mirror, I looked so much better I couldn't believe it. Not only did it look like I had more self confidence, but I truly thought that I didn't look half bad anymore.
So I learned that posture is almost everything, and no amount of makeup and hairspray can look nearly as good as turned back shoulders and a higher chin. I was really amazed at how much more confidence I got from looking confident when I felt no confidence. And it was just a small change.

A mind filled with knowledge is good. A mind that has fought to overcome the knowledge that the world has forced upon us is better.
