Been a vegetarian for 4 years now, and i still love it even though its a bit hard.
Vegans cannot eat ANY animal products, while vegetarians just dont eat meat.
For example, vegans cant eat:
chew gum
eat foods with perservatives
a lot of canned foods
tortillas (mexican food in general)
and quite a bit more.
It sucks to be honest, went vegan for two months and I was at the point where i said NOOOO MOREEE
I would also like to point out that people who do eat meat are out for some serious health risks lately because of its mass production.
Fruits and veggies are one thing, but mass producing meat can be a serious liability on the body (especially beef or pork). Meat is just too heavy for our bodies and with the hormones and perservatives added, people wonder why their 8 year old little Johnny has gained 50lbs.
Beef and pork are know as "red meats" because of their increasing amount of hormones being added. Ever notice why girls are developing breasts so much earlier than in the older days? The hormones added into the meat increase a person's aging by quite a bit. And the testosterone added when eating a bull or male pig cause girls to develop more body hair and males become more aggressive.
I learned a lot of this through my health class as well as doing quite a bit of projects on meat myself. I don't want to be the next PETA enforcer or the next FD&C nerd, but everyone needs to open their eyes to what's REALLY in their food.

You can chew CERTAIN kinds of gum, you have to look at the ingredients and pay attention to things like gelatin.
Certain perservatives you can't eat as vegan and some you can.
Yeah quite a bit.

Meat is more of a health risk due to the body's absorption of nutrients and ability to break down foods. Meat cannot be broken down naturally which means it will stay longer as it trys to make its way through your intestines that are far too long for meat as the natural bacterias and such will be absorbed into the body.
I always thought it was called red meat due to the blood, but I might be wrong. Meat is also red before its cooked.
