With Britney Spears finally regaining a bit of control over her tattered life (though not too much), the prudent thing would probably be to keep a low profile while continuing her long, arduous journey on the road to recovery.
Or possibly star in a TV show.
TMZ.com reports the court-monitored cautionary tale and her management team had a meet-and-greet on Wednesday with the head of Merv Griffin Entertainment.
Word is they kicked around ideas for small-screen projects Spears could star in and perhaps produce, including one music-related pitch.
Sources say it was a "serious" meeting and that Brit, whose two guest-starring stints on "How I Met Your Mother" boosted ratings and didn't annoy too many critics, is "definitely interested" in pursuing a TV venture.
Meanwhile, on the less "serious" side of the latest Spears speculation comes a tidbit from Metro UK, which claims she's being eyed for a lead role in the Broadway production of "Grease."
"The producers were bouncing around the idea of casting Britney in the role of Sandy," a mole is quoted as saying. "They're recasting the roles in July and they thought that Britney looked like a Sandy. She would be terrific."
Of course, given that just a few months ago Spears was being carted away by ambulance, it's unlikely any production -- no matter how PR starved -- would gamble on her ability to channel Olivia Newton-John eight times a week while warbling "Hopelessly Devoted to You."
In other dubious news, OK! is convinced Spears has fallen for her agent, "regular guy" Jason Trawick, who joined her -- and her decision-making dad, Jamie -- on her recent bikini-stuffed getaway to Mel Gibson's Costa Rican estate.
"There's no doubt that Jamie approves of Jason -- and why wouldn't he?" a snitch tells the mag. "Jason would never take advantage of Britney. I'm glad that she's finally found a good guy who isn't interested in her fame or her fortune."
But E!'s "The Daily 10" contacted Trawick's camp and insists the romance rumors aren't true, adding for good measure that he already has a girlfriend.
Not that Spears isn't feeling the love.
The latest OK! cover helpfully gives us a glimpse of "Brit's private mommy moments," complete with pictures of her bonding with sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 21 months, who spent Tuesday at Disneyland with dad Kevin Federline.
Spears, declares the mag, is "becoming the mom she's always wanted to be."
During a May 26 visit with the boys, "Sean Preston wouldn't let go of Britney," says a spy. "He didn't want to leave her side. Every time she tried to put him down, he would clinch himself closer to her."
Another positive sign: She's been photographed perusing the self-help book "Jack Canfield's Key to Living the Law of Attraction: A Simple Guide to Creating the Life of Your Dreams."
Concludes an optimistic source, "Her biggest regret is losing her boys, and now's the time to put that right."
