Who is me?
As I lay here
Admist the tattered remains
Of my childhood
This fleeting thought crosses
Again and again
Who is me?
Am I the
Girl, lost and afraid
Hearing the taunts
Flung at her from
The reality around her?
Or
Am I the
One whos
Heart is surrounded
By the emtiness
Of her own world?
Or
Am I the
Tearstained child
Crying in her bed
Softly so no one
Hears?
Or
Am I the
Hard faced woman-child
Frightened of herself
And just trying to
Find her say in this chaos?
Or
Am I the
Child, listening to
Her father's voice
On the phone, as he
Tells her how he loves her?
Or
Am I somehow
All of these?
My memories lay scattered
And my heart cries for acceptance
My mind screames into the veil
That hides what I wish to know
I sink down to the floor
Hands over my ears
Tears of blood running down my face
I want to go back
And change my life
I want to go back
Back before the
Tears
Before the
Lies
Before the
Hiding
Before the
Emptiness
I want to go back
So I can find me
Who is me?
As I lay here
Admist the tattered remains
Of my childhood
This fleeting thought crosses
Again and again
Who is me?
Am I the

Hearing the taunts
Flung at her from
