When you think about your life, you don't think of it in terms of life and death...you think of it as an item list. For a man it’s to secure a job, home, wife, then children...and of course they grow old attending to the generations that follow. For a woman it’s much the same...except her main focus is finding the suitable man whom will provide the security, and then it’s the children. Well, at least this is what is supposed to run through one's head when they think about their path. But our land had fallen on some hard times. Rebels were rising all over Erin to challenge the King, and they would level anything in their path...including people. The rebel usually attacked at night when they believed most people to be asleep, but my village had been rebuilt so many times it was difficult for everyone to sleep soundly. The elders of the village had decided long ago that our village was not worth rebuilding time after time so they degreed that a village be built underground and stocked for times of need. Then a make shift town be built on the surface, a tunnel led from ever house down to the town below. Each day we would surface to greet the light and every night we would retreat back down. It was a wonderful freedom and for several years the people of this small valley village were happy, even through the bleakness of the war.
But such happiness was not to last......
