"He walks threw the lust green fields every night, leading his heard of every child's dream to gaze and drink. He knows that wolves, nightmares, wait for him to rest beside the lake of crystals, so they can devour all the dreams. But he takes a rest anyway. The lake is clear and good. The dreams are happy. The Shepherd is glad. His eyes close slowly, resting on his staff. Clouds roll in with rain and thunder. The wolves howl. The dreams become nervous and began to panic. Snarls are heard from behind the hill of hopes, just waiting for the right moment. Lighting strikes the ground and the dreams burst into chaos. Wolves began to come in and began to attack. The Shepherd comes to the dreams defense, using his staff to fend off the monsters. He can hear more wolves coming and know he will not be able to save all the dreams. Cries of agony, crunching of bones, the sound of water splashing. A fire breaks loose. The smell of blood, and burning flesh engulfs the fields. The Shepherd is running out of time. He has to get the dreams to the gates before the sun rises. With a great battle cry, the Shepherd plunged his staff into the ground, causing it to crack. The wolves fell, carrying with them a few of the dreams. No time to worry. He gathered as many wounded as he could carry, and ran for the gates. The sun was almost up now. He runs fast, and keeps the few left by him at all times. The gates are near by. He runs even faster. Lunges for the gates as they open. The gate closes behind him and the few dreams that made it. Children around the world wake up, fight the fears off from his walk and go on about their days..."
Riona petted the head of her baby brother as he slept. She leaned in and kissed his forehead, "May your gazing be a happy one little one."
