Introduction
Ery found herself outside of the comic shop again, the chill wind blowing around her roughly. It's yellow and green paint chipped at the splinters on the door and front wall. The little building seemed like it was dieing slowly and was getting to a bad end. The girl sighed softly to herself as she kept looking at the building. How long had it been since she last came here? 3 weeks? 4 months? 10 years? Ever since Chicago was bombed by planes, time seemed to have stopped for her. Hell, time seemed to had to stop for everyone. Nothing was the same anymore, and would never be the same.
She looked at the door and sighed a little. If she went in, what would she find? Most likely not Juan, or Ryan, or Sean or Tony. They were all gone now. Either killed, taken, or went insane. She was there when the men in black came and took her friends away. It was a mad scale of confusing. And the burning hate was still in her, just wanting to get out.
Turning away, Ery knew that it was pointless to go in. Their might be anything in that shop now. Even monsters. Or as everyone called them "Drolls". Drolls where ugly things. They had long yellow tusk that came out of their heads, and short claws that could kill a bull elephant. Their skin was a pasty gray and nothing on this Earth could explain the smell of them. Ery didn't have time to fight Drolls just to get some old memories. Hell, she didn't need to fight herself to get them either.
She walked for awhile then happened upon a couple sitting under the trees of the old Lan Tech school building. It was rare to see couples outside together. Mostly because of fear that they might be attacked, but also because no one really trusted the other anymore. Ery watched them for a moment, feeling sadden then began to walk off when one of them old her name.
"Ery? Ery is that you?" said the young gentleman. He stood up, the trees shading his face.
Ery shifted her guitar on her back and looked at him with a nod, "Depends on whose looking for her."
The young gentleman laughed and ran to her, a huge grin on his face, "Oh my God! It is Ery! Bri! It's Ery!" He hugged her tightly, picking her off her feet.
With a gasp, Ery looked at him surprised, then realized who he was, "Cris? Whoa!" She got dizzy as he swung her around, "Put me down!"
The young lady, Bri, laughed as she watched them, "No Cris, don't make me get the whip again."
Cris placed Ery down and laughed, "Okay okay. Ery! How are you?"
Ery grumbled and rubbed her head as she smiled at them, "I'm good for the most part? How about yourshevels?"
The couple smiled as they held hands and looked at her, "We're great. After the bombing, Cris went north to find me, then we began our journay back here. It's been hard with all these Drolls running about, but we mange."
Ery nod once then smiled, "Hey you guys got a place to stay? I just got back in town."
Bri laughed, "Yeah we do. It's just down this way." She began to lead Ery to their home with Cris holding her hand the whole time.
Once they were at the broken home, Ery began to talk about old times with them then paused a bit.
"I miss Brendon. I wish I could find him, " she said quietly.
Bri nodded and hugged her gently, "Yeah I know. We've been looking for people we knew who manged to survive the bombings and escape the men when the Drolls first came about."
Cris nodded with a grave look on his face and rubbed his head, "Yeah, but odds are, he was taken. No point in lieing there. Almost everyone was taken at the same time."
Silence. Ery sighed and pulled her guitar to her lap, and began to play it. She closed her eyes and began to dream as she listened to the music flow. Even though hope had faded from her long ago, she still felt it good to dream of finding her loved ones once again. It was so sad, so so sad, how every one was lost. And yet, Bri and Cris were here, and that gave her more dreams to hope on.
Hours passed and they ate dinner and went to bed. Ery knew better then to fall asleep completely. There was no telling when a Droll would come in and eat her. Cris and Bri where in another room, which was fine with her. As long as someone was there, then there were no worries. Not for now anyway.
Sleep finialy came to her and feel into slumber. She felt the music in her soul playing her a sweet lyullba
