The War that Never Was

Chapter II

The large heavy wooden doors swung open blowing a cool breeze toward me as the two soldiers stepped away from me and held up their guns. "These two have stole from the Empire of Tuor, I suggest you stand down sir or you will be arrested." The man stuttered at the few words as a tall burly man walked out of the bar. He wore tattered jeans that hugged around his giant muscular thighs. Our uncle stepped in front of us as his alligator tail swished behind him, he was a lot taller then the men that stood in front of him. My uncle Midgar was a Raptoric, the features of a human but in the body of an alligator. His dark eyes stared down at the men as they held up their guns. His long muzzle snorted as he growled showing millions of sharp teeth that could shred through anything, possibly the men bestowed upon us. "Here is your things back, technically they did not steal from the Empire of Tuor because you are in our Empire of Rozzaria." He crouched down and picked up the sac with his large hands. The sac seemed like a delicate little bird ready to be crushed under the pressure of the scales and claws. He shoved the sac at the soldier as he grabbed it and nodded. I thought I saw one of them look at me like they were thinking of coming back for me, if they would, I'd be ready.

After the soldier left Midgar turned around and shook his head. "I thought I told you two to stay out of trouble?" He beamed down at me with his reptilian pupils. I stepped to the side and pushed Jasper into him. "There is your problem Midge." He averted his eyes from me and stared down at my brother who seemed like a midget compared to my uncle. Jasper snorted and brushed his bangs out of the way. "They deserved it." He protested. In a quick swift movement Midgar pinched his claws into Jasper's earlobe as he tugged like a teacher would with a school boy. "Ouch!! Christ!" He shouted as blood trickled from his ear and dripped onto his tan shoulder. "You know we are never to deal with them at the state we are in right now!"
"I just hate seeing them push us around!" Jasper had tears welled in his eyes as his speech got distorted.
"We have to abide by their rules for now! I know it's hard, but no one is here to run the throne for us... No one was born into the royal line." Midgar looked up at me with strong green eyes. "Take your brother, I got customers." He let go of Jasper's ear as he walked back into the bar. I looked down at my brother as I sighed shaking my head. He put his hand over his ear tracing the indent where our uncle's claws have been.

We walked along the streets of the surface as I walked with my arms crossed over my chest. Jasper was still whining over his little wound. "Why does he do that to me?" He asked sheepishly.
"So you can get it through that thick head of yours." I laughed and knocked on the top of his head. He groaned and put his hand ontop of his head and rubbing the spot I hit. We reached a building with a brass elevator like you see in the old movies that have a gate and open up. I let my brother step in first as I closed the gate behind me as I held the rope that was on a pully, slowly letting the rope go up as the elevator went down.

The elevator came to a screeching halt as the wood shook as it hit the cobblestone street. I pulled the gate away as Jasper walked out into the light, though it wasn't as light as it was on the surface of the city. A few more Raptorics walked past us, though they were not a burly as my uncle Midge. Me and my brother walked past a few Vieras, the body of a woman with long rabbit like ears adorned on the tops of their heads. Vieras were an all woman race, no exceptions. They are the tallest race that ever lived, they stand atleast six feet, maybe more. Once we got to our destination I pulled back the giant velvet red curtains and stepped on the red carpet and looked at an old man that was sitting in a chair. He was sitting cross legged with his eyes closed. Jasper walked over to a creature in a cage, it looked like a rabbit with a mix of a cat. It yawned then looked at my brother then hissed as he jumped back and fell onto the ground. The old man opened one wrinkly eye, he was a very dark old man, though his eyes were as blue as the sky. "Hello... I'm here for another reading..." I spoke feeling rather shy, though I shouldn't be because I've done this many of times. His dried lips parted as he let out a bright smile, though I wouldn't say so bright, most of his teeth were missing. "Aurora you're back again?" He asked in a shaky tone. I nodded as he stood up, he was about my size, he wore a turban with a worn out robe and a red scarf that wrapped around like a shash. "I always enjoy your company." He smiled and chuckled as a small smile crept on my lips. He walked over to the corner of the small room as he pulled back a purple velvet curtain revealing a small room with a table and two chairs. I walked into the room and sat down on the chair and watched him shakily sits onto the chair. There was a small round bowl where an orb looked like it would be placed in it. "Ushrah feildeni." He whispered as a see-through orb appeared on the bowl as it swirled with thunder and clouds. I stared intently at the storm, I kept thinking it would subside, but it stayed. "What's wron-" I was cut off when he shushed me. "The time will come sooner then you think... Blood with stain the stones along with your hands..." He kept his eyes closed as his forehead wrinkled as I started to worry. "The time will come when the Pearl shines away the dark made by the Shark..." He sighed as it looked like he was trying hard to say something but couldn't remember. I stood up as he looked at me and the orb went back to normal. "Thank you Simon." I bowed my head and walked out of the doorway. "Anytime." He stuttered as I left so abruptly. "C'mon Jasper."
"W-where are we going?" He ran after me from looking at a jarred lizard.
"We're going back home... I have a feeling we should have stayed inside today..."
