The War That Never Was
Chapter I
The sky was a gray color with larger darker patches, the wind started to pick up blowing the damp grass from the rains before. The blades of grass flowing like a sea of deep green color. Miles away from the seas of green was a large empire, the streets paved with cobblestone and concrete. The buildings in this empire, were a brown rusty color, though on the surface all new development. Like houses you see in picture books about the future, though they weren't made of chrome, more like brass and silver. The stones on these buildings were a blue color, not a dark blue hue, light enough to be sky blue, but dark enough to be considered an actual blue.
I called this city a place of dreams. It was never like that after the King died. The King tried everything in his will to stop the raging empire that thought of our empire as a pearl, I thought of the other empire as a shark. Our Queen, who was just recently married to him, had to suffer his death as her own. They were never over the age of 30, they never had children to take the throne, nor relatives to be born into royalty. So the other empire, thought of this to be the best oppritunity to enslave us. Flattering us with words of so called 'promise' to make our empire better, me and my brother knew they could never grant such wish.
The sky was it's usual blue hue as the sun beamed on our little town of this giant city. The dew from the endless nights of rain slowly glistened from a green leaf of a tree as it rolled down the little grooves of the veins of the leaf as it dripped and fell onto my tan cheek. I was asleep at my usual spot, under an oak tree next to my uncle Midgar's pub. He wasn't really my uncle, I was adopted along with my younger brother who is 5 years younger then me, a pompus 11-year old that thinks he is a chick magnet. His hair always reminded me of a young duckling, feathery and yellow like the sun. It was only part of him that made me not want to strangle him. He said my hair reminded him of our mother. She was beautiful, though my brother only remembers some of her. She was captured trying to protect my brother Jasper when he was only 3. She had beautiful long brown hair that smelt of roses that have just bloomed and watered. Her skin was tan like polished wood, me and Jasper got the skin color from her. Our empire went under a struggle for being over populated, so the newborns were killed. My mother told me to take him and run as far as possible, as a matter of fact, the tree I sleep next to is the very tree that protected us. Though, it did not stop us from seeing the horrible fate of my mother. She was whipped until the ground around her was stained with her blood, the air smelt of fear and rust. They had no mercy, even when they saw her twitch, they beat her head in with a sword. I hated those men dressed in silver armor, their helmets shielding their sadist faces, showing the people they had no soft interior even mercy. They still walk the streets, though they have decided to keep us in this city. The armored men do not come from our empire, the shark empire ready to crush the pearl with its mighty jaws. I'm not ready to let this pearl crack just yet.
Jasper came running by with his usual sword hilted on his back, he kept looking behind him to see if anyone was following as I stood up and looked down at his small body. He hasn't hit his growth-spurt yet. I blinked and looked down at how his feathery yellow hair swished about when he looked left from right, then around. I put my hands on his shoulders to stop him from spinning like a top, and getting me dizzy. "Alright... What did you do this time Jasper?" I asked with a slight disciplined tone. "I-I didn't do anything!" He was out of breath as I noticed he had a sack on his belt as I grabbed it quickly and held it above his head. "This doesn't look like nothing..." I shook the cloth sac. I tried not to laugh watching him jump up and down to get it. "Give it back!" "Not until after you tell me who you got this gil from." Two soldiers came running to where the street opened onto the main street. They held two machine guns. "Hey you!!" They shouted and ran towards Jasper as he hid behind me putting his arms around my waist. I watched them walk slowly up to me, one of them held the gun towards me ready to shoot if I objected, the hair on my neck prickled slightly but I wasn't afraid. "I found this on my brother..." I held out the sac and put it in one of the soldier's hands. The soldier batted it away before it landed into his hand as I felt a dull pain in my hand as the other soldier held up the gun towards me. "He stole from the Empire of Tuor, he shall be persecuted, and perhaps you along with him." The soldier who put his machine gun up first put it down and walked over to me, he was only inches away from my face. Their helmets were redesigned to show the face cut out like a trojan helmet but with no nose guard. The soldier held my chin up with his fingers. "I don't think we should kill her yet, she may be of use to us." He said in a sly remark. If I wasn't under the gun, I would've killed him with my gunblade hilted behind me, but I didn't. They both chuckled as the door swung open to my uncle Midgar's shop. "Excuse me gentlemen, but I believe you have a bigger problem to solve."
Tune in for somemore :3
