For your brain this will be separated into various little sub-topic things. Here goes:
First 5k of the Summer!!!
Today I ran my first 5k of the 2007 summer. It was a wonderful course, mostly downhill with a few up hills. At the first two-mile marks, there were people shouting out your time so far in the race, and handing out water. The first time I just swished it around in my mouth and spat it back out. That way I wouldn’t be all cotton-mouthy, nor would I have a cramp from drinking water while running. At the second mark I swished some and poured the rest on my head and down my back. It was so hot! And today was actually not a horriblely hot day. Maybe it’s because the run was in the morning.

I ran a 22:29… that is aproximently, a minute and a half faster than my old fastest time, which was 23:54. I was so happy! I kept up with this kid who is on my track team, he is also signed up for cross-country, for about the first three miles. Just before the three-mile he started his kick, so he beat me by about a minute or so. A 5k is about 3.1 miles.
It was awesome though! I kept passing people… passing guys! That was so much fun.
I don’t know what I took over all, but I knew I was in the 100-150 range. There were a lot of people. And I took second for the 15-20 female age group… and I’m only sixteen! I should be super good at it when I’m twenty!!!
Loincloth/barefoot Man!!! heart
Since this was an open race, and everyone could sign up for it… assuming they were ten or older, there were many interesting people who ran. The most interesting person who I saw at the race wasp Barefoot man clad in a Loincloth Okay, so he had spandex beneath his loincloth, but it was so funny! He took second in the 10k race, then apparently thought “what the hell? I’m going to do a 5k too!” So he ran a total of 15k today… Beat me for sure. Barefoot, and only wearing spandex with a loincloth over it. Plus he had some tattoos. He was awesome!
