They were twins. The boy's name was John and the girl's name was Polly. They both were cute, smart, and fun to be around. Rica tried to be their friends but they saw her as an annoying child and pushed her away. She didn't mind though. She understood that not everybody would like her.
Polly didn't like the fact she didn't mind. She didn't like the fact that Rica was smart. She didn't like it that she was so nice to people. So she began to pick on her. And that began to influnce other kids to do that same. But Rica didn't mind. Words were words to her.
John didn't like the fac that Rica didn't care for words. He hated that acctly. He chouldn't understand why she wouldn't cry or get angery at he's sister. So he also began to make fun of her. And even more kids joined in.
Rica smiled threw it all and just ingored everyone. Soon some kids began to stop but not all of them did. Rica would walk past Polly and John and say good day how are you like she allways dose then skip down the hall like a 5 year old girl.
The twins became really disturbed by this. So they decided to take another way. They began to snoop around until they found Rica's journal, tucked under her book bag. She forgot to put it back on her bookself after she came home from her grandfathers house. They laughed as they read threw it then began to copy the pages and spread it all around school.
In the journal was pictures, pices of things that whouldn't fall out, and words of her life. Rica had written her crushes, her scerts, everything in that little book and now it was all over the school. Soon even her friends began to make fun of her, seeing that being around her would make them look bad.
This made Rica cry. She cried and cried until she chouldn't cry anymore. Rica became alone. She became sad. And Polly and John where pleased. Until of crouse a new kid came to school.
He's name was David. He was an only child and didn't have anyfriends. He was wried to everyone. Polly and John smiled at this and began to tease him but he simplely ingored it all, use to it from years of hurt.
One day, he saw Rica crying as some boys began to pick on her, calling her names and pertending they would kiss her and instaed spit in her face.
David fought all of them and only got one black eye and a bruis arm. He petted Rica on the head then walked off, without saying a word.
Rica had wacthed him from then on and then one day, she brought him a persent. She was shy and handed him a handmade necklace she made in metal shop. He loved it and wore everyday. He smiled as he took her home and they laughed togther. They were both happy, in their own world.
Polly didn't like the fact that Rica was becomeing happy again and John disliked John. They began to lead on the teaseing again, and began to do even more. Polly would do things like steal Rica's gym colthes, forcing her to play sports in her school uniform. John began to pick fights with David and made it look like it was David's fault.
Rica took the assult head on and smiled threw it all. She now knew crying was worthless and that revange was pointless. David, on the other hand was more rentless and fought when he had too. He whould then walk Rica home with a cut lip or a bursied face. She would fuss at him about this but he smiple smile and say that its worth it. She didn't understand and he would just laugh.
On the second to last day of school Polly and John did something curl. They followed Rica and David, not knowing that they would wittness something kind and gently.
David said they should go to the park since it was a nice day out. Rica smiled at him and said that they can do their homework there then. David just laughed. They got to the park and went to a quiet spot near the creek. Rica smiled as sat in the grass and began to do her work. David just sat and wacthed her, smileing. He stood up then and Rica looked at him asking if he was okay. David smiled and brought her to her feet saying everything is fine. He looked her in the eyes then and smiled a little more. He leand in and kissed her gently on the lips.
Rica face turned red and she pushed him away. He smiled as she smacked him and laughed looking at how her face was red. He apolgeized but said he chouldn't help it. He said he felt that way ever since she gave him the neckleace he still wore. Rica didn't know what to say. She chouldn't turst herself to say anything. So she went home alone. John follwed her as Polly went to home laughing. She knew what her borther planed to do and it made her smile.
John stopped Rica and smiled as he took her to an ally way. In that ally, he began to beat her. He broke her arm as she tried to escape. He hurt her and hurt her, until she fainted. He went home laughing.
The police found her in time and took her to the hospital. David was desvaited in what happen. He went to school, more quiet then uselaul. John and Polly laughed and began to tease him. David got angery and began to fight John. John laughed as he ripped the chain fromo David's neck and smiled giving it to Polly. Trying to get it back, David almost lost all contorl of what he was. Polly took it and threw it into the river near their school.
They didn't know that by doing this, they took the only thing David would remeber Rica by. Rica died from loseing to much blood from John's beating. He lost words was that she loved David with all her heart.
After David heard the news he spent the bulk of the summer looking for that smiled little necklace. John became depress, relizing he went to far. Polly didn't care.
David found it, the day of he's birthday. He spent it alone it he's room, crying softly to himself, wishing he had stopped Rica that day.
On the first day of school, some kids saw David, walking alone with an eyepatch. They asked what had happen but he didn't reply. David kept walking until he saw John and Polly. Polly rolled her eyes as John avoided he's eyes. Polly poked fun at the eye patch. John looked at David, and asked what happen. David shurrged and said he was ridineg he's bike and lost he's eye. He also said that he was leaving the graveyard when this happen. Polly simplely laughed and walked away. John on the other hand began to cry.
David looked at him. He said that the poilce never found Rica's killer. John told him all of it, and was surpised to see that David was about to kill him. David sighed and said that it dosen't matter anymore. Rica was gone. He walked away, leaving John alone.
John began to hate he's sister and began to spend more time alone. David began to spend time with him after awhile. Polly began to feel hurt but ingored it all. She beagn to tease the newest kid who had mental problems.
One day, that kid brought a gun to school. Polly was killed on the spot. Daivd died protecting John. John cried and cried and turned himself in. He died a year later of cancer.
David was buired next to Rica. John next to David. Those three were never forgottne.
