It started off as a fairly normal day for Deidara. Sure, it was Valentine’s day, but the clay artist had no one special to call his own. Sure, there was one particular puppet master he cared greatly for, but he was always so distant. The blonde gave a small sigh as he blue orbs for a moment. “Meh… Not like it really matters, yeah…” The artist said as he flopped onto his back, hitting his bed with a light bounce. He then raised a hand, examining its strange mouth. The artist was so bored right now. Maybe he’d go bug Sasori for a while. Nah, that would lead to nothing. It wasn’t as if he was much of a conversationalist, anyway. All the same, the redhead was cute in his own stoic way. The blonde mentally slapped himself in the face. ~No! Stop that!~ He screamed in his mind. No matter how much he liked him, the puppet master would never feel the same. Heck, they couldn’t even agree on art forms. At the same time, the puppet master did seem to care in his own way, even if he wasn’t expressive about it. Maybe he was just shy. Either that, or he wanted to stay stoic to be cool. Yes! That had to be it. Well… Even if it wasn’t true, Deidara liked to think it was.
After a few minutes, Tobi walked into the brooding artist’s room after knocking on the door. Great, just what he needed right now. That masked shin obi was enough to set him off at any given time. Sure, he meant well, but he was so annoying. “What is it, yeah?” The artist demanded in an annoyed tone.
“Special delivery from a secret admirer, Deidara-san.” The masked shinobi said, handing him a small heart shaped box of chocolates with a rose attached to it. “I’d say who it was from, but they were too shy to admit it.” Deidara blinked in surprise as he took the gift in his hands. He hadn’t been expecting anything ,much less from a secret admirer. Who could it possibly be? After thanking Tobi, the blonde went back to his bed and sat down, pulling the rose off the candy. He held it in his hand, gently twirling it around. Whoever it was, they sure were thoughtful. Just then, it dawned on the artist. Maybe Tobi had been the one and he didn’t want to admit it. That raven haired goof was certainly silly enough to give the gift in person while still being the secret admirer, but why would Tobi want him to be his Valentine? He was always the target of his rage, which normally led to a bomb or two in his direction. Regardless of this, that was the only person Deidara could think of. No other member of Akatsuki would have given him the rose and the chocolates, especially not the one he hoped would give him the Valentine the most. The blonde stood up and put the gifts on his bed. He then walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. Where had Tobi gone, anyway? Almost immediately after the blue eyed member of Akatsuki thought that, he spotted Zetsu’s subordinate walking down the hall. The artist walked to him and placed a hand on his shoulder to catch his attention. The raven haired shinobi turned around at his touch. "Yes, Deidara-san?"
"Errr... Thanks, yeah... Really... It was very thoughtful of you, yeah." The masked shinobi had an udder look of confusion as to what he was being thanked for.
"Huh? Oh... You mean the gifts? Well... I can honestly say I'm not the one who got them for you, but I do know who did. I don't want to ruin the surprise for him." Deidara raised a suspicious eyebrow before deciding the young man was probably being honest. However, this brought up another question.
"Tobi, if you didn't send me the Valentine, then who did?" Just then, the blonde felt a hand rest on his shoulder.
"If you turn around, you just might find out." The mysterious person said. Deidara's eyes widened with surprise as they began sparkling. The artist knew exactly who it was. He turned himself around, quickly embracing the man. He buried his face into his chest, despite his puppet body. "Thank you so much, Sasori no Danna... I can't believe you did this for me." The artist looked directly into the puppet master's eyes, seeing something he never thought he would. Those normally cold, emotionless eyes had a look of tender happiness in them. The red haired shinobi had the smallest traces of a loving smile on his face. If not for his body's construction, it would have been much wider.
"Happy Valentine's day, Deidara." The puppet master said softly in a loving tone. He slowly wrapped his arms around his fellow artist and leaned into them until their lips interlocked. After what seemed like moments, they released their kiss, still holding each other tightly. Now there was only them and a very beautiful Valentine's day.
