Does it matter anymore
Today, was just all bringing up the topic of racism, and that is because of the Black History show that made me think, Yeah I am black ((along with a million other things man, I even learned that my great-grandfather was completely Chinese, in Panama they called him 'Chino' which basically means chinese)), but anyways, what bothers me, is those who don't try to get it ((because even though it was black history show, it applies to more than just black races, especially those mixed like me)), also those who are black and think they know it but they don't know s**t.
One thing that bothered me a bit is, that does anyone care if their true love is of a different race anymore, I know I don't, if I get along with them, and love their look or something, then I won't care. But do you? I like somethign in each race, for Black I like braids, or clean cut with a lil hair, I don't care is their golden or chocolate, also a big smile. While for white, I lovvvveee flippy hair, I love guys with good hair, and a nice crooked smile sweatdrop , Chinese, hmmm...I would agree with hair, oh and if he's like Jet Lee man xd . Japanese, gotta take a goth boy with pretty hair, but not toooo girly((cause then it would be like 'he's prettier than me!)), and hmm...Latino, gotta have that nice dark hair, not too long, and not sure what else, besides the ACCENT!lol....but moving on what's your preference for each race? I would like to hear!

One more thing that gets me is with this whole thing of parents living in the past, it's not the 1960's anymore. One of my friends, this guy is totally in love wiht her, I can understand if she doesn't love him back, and can't be forced to love him, but if the other reason is cause it's against her religion cause he's black and she's white((wth, no Christian religion is like that, that's the bs that alot of ******** humans like to add to religions to interpret the bible their way, it happens alot in America....)) But yeah, she says her dad would beat him up. The guy is a nice guy he's not trying to get into anyone's pants, he's not trying to rape anyone, so what is their problem? Sigh, I know my parents would preffer a black boy who was clean cut ((without the lowered jeans)), or if anything not a white boy who screams how he hates the world. But my mom is warming up to it, my parents just odn't like the idea of me dating period, they're a bit touchy on it, but now I'm kinda the age((just not really interested lol)). But yeah does anyone wanna just punch parents who are ******** against knowing the person because of their looks?

Rant done, now to run around randomly... Answer the questions!!!! MUhaw extra gold lol. whee One more thing I hate, when people say all Asians look alike, Damnti they all have different cultures, and all look different, that is one of the most racist comments, besides saying that the definition of black is impure and all that s**t... xp Done

To quote Ms. McDonald: "from a genetics standpoint, race is nonexistent"...I've made that into my philosophy (oh goodness, I just can't spell that word right!) on all matters pertaining to race, and it works well enough for me. biggrin
...Though I think that we have it easy here about racisim Florida, since it's such a diverse mix of different colors and features from being a gateway area (I just made that connotation up... but you get the point ). My parents tell me these terrible stories of how Chinese are actively discriminated in the workplace in other parts of the country, so I feel really blessed that I live here in Florida. *sends a prayer to god in thanks*

...you're part Chinese? Awesome! Perhaps back somewhere along the line, we're related! whee mrgreen

sweatdrop (hmm... does disregarding race mean that I cannot be proud of mine?)

sweatdrop ...Then again... does not pride of an element imply that the element to be proud of in one person is found to be inferior or defective in another individual of the same species?

sweatdrop ... but then, is it a sin to find some physical characteristics more aethically (I can't spell that word, either) pleasing to the eye? After all... that is what we do when we critique art...

@_@ Agggghhhhh!!!!! My mental capacity is simply not prepared to contemplate certain rhetorical oxymorons today...

(sat in the back of the auditorium during the black history show and all I heard was "Boom! Smash! Jump! Gurgle! Stomp!" and the occasional "squeeeeeeeee!!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!" wink

sweatdrop You've really given me some food for thought there, Kearin

*wanders off to ponder current conumdrum over some pokey sticks*

lol yeah I've confused myself too on the whole thign, there's sooo many things, I mean you can be proud of your race, but still keep your pride in check. Like I'm proud African's made Pyramids, and used gold in ways Europeans sought to steal it, btu now scientists try to take Eygypt off of Africa just to make it seem like it couldn't possibly be part of Africa ((that makes me mad)).

Otherwise, I'm not sure about looks man, I mean I care about the inside too, and sometimes that will overpower it... Mrs McDonald is right. lol and I liekd the show, not the best, But I still liked it xd

Well... I don't really know what to say on this topic. Me myself, for some reason i always lean toward white boys, i'm not sure it's because of the thoughts my mom and grandpa poured into me after all this time. I don't think along hte lines of a racist, i could say i feel more like a sterotype people but that is still kind of bad. And... mom is living in the past too, she thinks that guys are to make the move in everything that happens. Then again, i kind of agree with her, it would be very odd if the girl "wore the pants" in the relationship. lol... i don't know exactly what to say, or how to say it for that matter, this subject is so touchy, people go over the edge over misinterpreted thoughts so.... power to you for posting this up dude. much luv heart

Well I'm not sure about the girl asking the guy out, because if the two were really into each other would it matter? The girl isn't wearing the pants when she asks the guy out, she's jus tbeing bold, because guys are naturally slow, and shy if they're really into a girl. And sterotypes are bad, and should be shot, I'm not a black girl wearing all the ghetto fabulous clothes? So stereotypes don't exist cause there's always someone different. I mean not all Asian's are geniuses and not all black boys wear ghetto clothing. My parents are living in the past only cause I'm the only teen and the first, and only girl. If I did have a bf the whole family would know, and my uncle would prolly get on his case lol. But that's always it, humans always think it's directed towards them, and their thoughts...nobody cares, but most humans are self-centered anywyas, and that's a fact, no mater what race you are, we all act the same in sins. sweatdrop

Alright, this is going to take a while, so everyone get comfortable now. -flops down in her chair- First of all, you like everyone's hair! xD Sorry, had to say that first... Ok, here's for the real stuff... 1. I don't care at all what color my significant other will turn out to be. All we need to do is click...why would it matter if he's Black, Hispanic, Asian, European (which includes Irish, Greek, German...) -continues to blab on and on- O_O Sorry about that. Anyway, yeah, like you said in your comment, stereotypes need to be shot. I honestly can't stand it if I have (for example) a Black friend who's like "Oh, I like this kid named Jordan (whatever)" and I ask if it's the Black kid or the White kid and she looks at me like I'm stupid, then asks, "What do you think?" It's rediculous to think that the only way you can go out with someone is if they're the same race as you...we're all humans! -steals Ms. McDonald's/Ruwan's quote- "From a genetics standpoint, race is nonexistent..." You could be tall, short, skinny, fat, Black, brown, blue or purple, and if I was into you, I would consider dating you... 2. Well, I honestly don't know what I like in people of different races... Like you, I'm really into hair, or eyes, but whatever. You either like someone's looks, and maybe even think they're hot or whatever, or you don't, and I don't think it should matter because "He has braids" or "She has big boobs". Not that I know it doesn't matter to you, 'Mani. ^^ 3. Yeah, I can't stand parents living in the past either. They're allowed to have thier traditions, and their own opinion on what's right and wrong, but saying that you can't date someone because of race/sex/body etc is rediculous. Sure, everyone has their own thing, and some parents won't let you date because the other person isn't good enough in thier eyes or whatever, but to me their has to be a good reason as to why you can't date the person you wanna. Of course, my mom has already told me that if I bring in a guy with bright pink hair and his pants hanging from his knees she'll kick him out of the house, but that's moms for ya. And to tell you the truth, if I /did/ bring home a guy with bright pink hair, I don't think they would mind, as long as he wasn't too crazyily dressed or whatever. Like you, I'm not too interested in dating at the moment, and my parents don't really want me to yet (I don't think)... And finally... 4. Yeah, ion Ms. McD's class we were actually talking about how everyone says all Asians look the same, but they honestly don't. Some differences are harder to find then others, but if you honestly took the time to look instead of being stereotypical and all like 'OMG, slanted eyed=Asian!!!' (lol) then you can easily distinguish people and not get your butt whooped from calling someone something there not. -collapses- Ok...I think I'm done! There's my food for thought for ya!

smile I have to agree with the majority here: stereotypes are ridiculously silly, but we can't help but have them. I am quite willing to bet a large sum of money that even the person who would go as far as to label himself the most "unstereotypical of the world" has stereotypes. Stereotypes simply evolve out of the body's natural reaction of trying to avoid getting hurt (eg. the though process of a lab rat: The red button shocked me last time; I don't want to get shocked; I should stay away from red buttons
    Vs.
thought process of a human: The asian girl called me "dumb" yesterday;I don't like being called dumb; I should stay away from all asian girls)

Stereotyping is perhaps but an impulse that we must all strive to control? sweatdrop

*walks off to place an ice pack over my brain*

I know sterotypes are silly but people can't help but do it. I mean, even when we're unaware of it we sterotype people, you can't say that you've never done it at least once in your life, or recently for that matter. People sterotype me and call me emo, which i'm not, but hey i can't do anything about it, no matter how bad that ticks me off. And yeah i guess it doesn't matter who you go out with or marry for that matter, but me personally am just not attracted to spanish or blacks or whoever lol... then again how can i say that, i may never know until that time comes ninja

    comment L'Arc En Ciel · Community Member · Sat Mar 10, 2007 @ 10:56pm
Yeah, I agree, noone can help but stereotype, I'm not saying I'm immune to stereotyping. Also yeah go Mrs.McDonald, one thing she taught us, we're all humans and we all act the same. And to Runeoath, yeah I've heard of all of those examples before they make sense. I personally would like someone if they clicked with me, if then they clicked I wouldn't care for their looks nor what my parents thought, that would be who I would be with for like ever I guess. And, I haven't cared to think who I have steered towards...but hmmm...it's a weird thing, but One main question. Should it matter now? Nobody is purely anything anymore. I mena the French don't like the English, and don't consider themselves the same, yet to others they think they're caucasian...all of these things are strange but have one obvious answer, we're human...so it doens't matter much anymore.

    Oookay, first one...
White guys- I guess longish dark hair, skinny-I mean like, boney- with big hands, tall.
Black guys- Braids, or buzz cut hair and kinda plump, tall. [I probably sound so weird lmao]
Hispanics- Long dark hair, and big hands, fit, tall.
Chinese- Clean cut, beautiful long hair, and tall.
Japanese- I sadly have to agree with you, the gothic type, but not the extremely pretty boys. Oh! And tall!
Yes, I like my tall boys <33 I would really hate to date someone shorter than me, but the chances are if I get asked out, the boy will be 5'4" or something, leaving me 3-4 inches taller than him XD
    Now, as for the dating...
    Hahahah!!!
Don't get me started on that!
My father doesn't want me to crush on boys, much less date, so either way, it doesn't really matter.
    Much love!
