the fog filled
the air
as the
earth
we
all had
combined with
us and the darkness
and earth had
become known
like
the united
states flag

our weeping
families
and hoping
children
pry their
faces to
the windows

as us soldiers
us warriors
heart grew
strong
and our
spirits
raged
into every
step and
breath

our minds
had become
thoughtless
yet cautious
to our
surrounds

we slept
with our
eyes open
and our
ears widened
for here
our emenies
were even
the shadows
and the
men we
looked up
to

trust
was
there
as well
as hope
but for some
they gripped
tightly
their rifles
and checked
breifly their
secondary
weapons
